Role assigned to: MonicaRachelle

She is a consecrated performer (singing and dancing). She is very sweet, gentle and loving. Ariana is an indifferent beauty. She is aware that others find her attractive but she often takes measures to avoid suitors (including wearing a ring to indicate being in a relationship). Because she is a consecrated she does have a magnetic personality and is regarded as being desirable by the average person. This usually frustrates her. She, like everybody also has a dark side that includes being cold, ruthless and pragmatic.

She as a consecrated stands out for having an appreciation for all of the gods.

She does not follow regular social norms because of her bizarre upbringing. She follows all thirteen gods of the mainstream pantheon and she is not put off by their appearances on the mortal plane.

Being able to sing is preferred. She does not sing in this particular story (you may feel free to include a sample of you singing, please remember the audition is not for a singer) but will later when she performs or casts spells.

For Ariana, we are open to any voice type. We will instead be listening to performance more than anything.

  • I am thinking of how to find somebody who I have never met. Who I know almost nothing about. And who the god of deception wants me to find.

  • What has brought you to the mortal plane this time?

  • I have been there. I know a noble family of your people, in fact. Pramod assured me that you are a consecrated and that he wants you to go home.

Main idea: The answers are respect and appearing professional. simon-dlsea is right. The protocol is in place for several reasons including but not limited to: not every person has the voice type for the characters in their gender/sex, not every person finds each character interesting that they could do the voice range for, that project owners and casting directors want to hear takes on individual characters including with the listed lines above your audition so we may follow along with the lines as well as emotional cues you are given. This aids us with casting to know whether you read anything about the character or project and does help with determining if you are somebody well-suited for us to work with on a project (as we will be directing you). Additionally, actors can and do make mistakes during auditions and for the lines recorded for a particular character. That is part of why they do separate recordings for each character. Should they cough, sneeze, trip over a word, have a voice crack, bump their mic, have their recording program crash…what have you, they can edit their audition to exclude said mistakes. That also saves time instead of there being a lot of silence and redos to sort through to hear your best take on a character. Other reasons for multiple/separate takes include adjusting a mic for a different voice requirement. For instance, adjusting the mic settings to prevent peaking when you switch from low to high. Or even needing to do warm-ups to hit a particular range. This allows them to not have a 40 minute audio for us to feel inclined to listen to for an audition that should have taken maybe 2 minutes of our time. There is also the possibility of singing. Adjusting your mic a little for singing versus speaking, and being able to do those warm-ups when singing is encouraged but not required as it is for two of these characters. Again, a time-saver. There is also respect to be had with IP. Certainly, there are trolls that audition for roles of characters they don’t like, especially in the fan category, as a way to mock something that others like. But, those sorts of people really don’t get very far because being remarkable can be positive or negative and when you are disrespecting/mocking a character, that is the sort of thing casting directors do remember. That being said, this is tagged as original for a reason. It is the IP of Nikki Flynn & Edwin Dantes. We write the novels and the scripts that are read via calls. These are the fruits of our creativity poured onto the page. This is hours upon hours of character designing, psychological assessment and planning of a character’s life from birth to what our life & death goddess says to them at their final judgment. We absolutely love our characters, stories and the actors who breathe life into the inhabitants of our world of Ullord and the pantheon of gods that “run” things. You do not have to like anything about us, our writing, the characters, our directing, and you can disagree with our casting choices (feel free, all of these are public casting calls), but, you should still show respect to the creators and to their creations. Why? Because the actors who have done that have been a wonderful boon to us whether they were cast or not and while we are thick-skinned and can get over somebody whether intentionally or not mocking us or our IP, not all creators/project directors on this website, or who may advertise in the VAC discord can or will. And, an additional point being that if you had written a script and decided to hold a casting call and make an audio work of it, you would not want others disrespecting your work and you may even feel spurned, discouraged and like your creative endeavors are not worth it because somebody could dare behave in such away or say such things about something you poured blood, sweat and tears into for hours and hours. All of that being said [typed], thank you for auditioning! We love holding calls and hearing peoples’ interpretation of characters! It is always so much fun for us! TLDR: “Because most everybody has respect for the project itself, the casting directors, their fellow talent and themselves.” “…If you’re trying to be a serious voice actor, I sincerely hope you reconsider your approach because this won’t get you very far…” Super compact: The answers are respect and appearing professional.

Wow...that was the most disrespectful audition I have ever heard. where do you get off doing something like this and possibly expecting to get a role in someone's project? If you ever want to be a proper voice actor you better get your life together. Making a mokery of someone's work and characters is what will knock you out of the running for any voice work. The whole audition was pitiful.
