Chapter 1 - Journal entry excerpt: [Slightly upset, explaining her past.] "All my life I struggled with my heritage as a Faunus. My parents died when I was young because of it. I was mistreated and tormented, learned to be ashamed of these animal appendages that marked me as different, as less than human. The White Fang was this collective hero that would save us from that kind of treatment and give us the same rights as humans. I was a fervent believer and defender of the cause. But I was young and still naive and taught to do things a child should not be adept at. Stealing, using the shadows to my advantage, infiltrating secure buildings and turning off the alarm systems, disarming opponents... I didn’t understand at first. I thought it was normal. I thought it was just. [Pause] I wish I had left sooner."

Chapter 1: [Quiet, heartbroken, said against Blake's better judgement. Voice nearly breaking at the end.] “I’m in love with you, Yang. And I keep falling for you day after day, again and again, no matter how much it hurts. I love you with every beat of my heart, every breath I take, and in all my waking moments. And I – I just… I’m sorry… I’m so sorry.”

Chapter 4: [Outraged but not yelling. Disbelieving.] "That I have you? You think I want this relationship so I can show you off like some trophy? God, no!"

Chapter 7: [In the middle of a battle. Blake’s voice is sharp and commanding.] “Doesn’t matter! Take Yang’s right, and contact extraction!”

Chapter 10: [Unemotional but conversational.] "Thank you for listening to us and for your help. Before we leave, though… Since Yang and I will be staying in Vale for an indeterminate amount of time – and so will Weiss, once she returns from Atlas – the three of us are volunteering for border patrol for the summer. It will do us good to stay in shape while we wait for Ruby to recover."

Chapter 11: [Trying to clear the air. A little tired and stressed.] "Look, Yang, I'm sorry. This is all so messed up and despite what the professors or what Weiss says, I hardly think I'm qualified to handle…everything. I am trying, but this isn't easy for me, either. I –" [Blake interrupts herself.]

Chapter 12: [Threatening.] "I held Yang back from getting to you for her sake. And you should be really glad that I did." [Here, Blake slaps the person she's talking to and scathes.] "You're pathetic."

Chapter 16: [Unsure, hesitant.] "We all have different ways of dealing with pain. I'm doing what I can. You're doing what you can, too, Weiss. And I can guarantee you that Yang has been doing her best as well. We just... [Long, tired sigh.] It's not easy. We need to be there for each other."

Chapter 16: [Was previously crying. Voice is hoarse and weak, trying to stay composed.] "No, we didn't. [Pause, trying to collect herself.] But we came too close, and I -- and I... [Voice breaks and wavers. Sigh.] I don't think I could have dealt with it. [On the verge of crying again. Rushing, desperate.] I did everything in my power to be there for you, to be strong and hang on to that one small hope, but I'm not like you, Yang. [Sniff, kind of crying now.] I could barely handle this."
