In most other works, he would be the villain: He’s a member of the royals and hates supernatural beings with a passion. How couldn’t he? All his life, he’s been told stories about their monstrosities. Some true (abnormals and demons aren’t necessarily good, after all), most of them made-up. However, here he is a protagonist in his own right, with relatable motivations. He’s a bit reminiscent of Zuko from Avatar: Desperate for his father’s approval, but looked down upon by him. Whatever he does, it’s never enough. Once reports of supposed demon attacks reach his ears, he finally sees his chance. Driven by both the concerns over the civilians and his personal quest for approval, he starts to investigate against his father’s orders, helped by his best friend Idle.

He’s light-hearted and funny in good times, but in this season, we only ever see him in a dark, tense mood. Despite everything, he stays kind and polite to the others, not wanting to let his anger out on the wrong person. Whenever he slips and ends up doing it anyway, he immediately calms himself down and apologizes. He doesn’t want prestige, he only really wants to be respected by his father.

His biggest flaw is his prejudice against supernatural beings and those who associate themselves with them. He’s usually a heroic character, but when dealing with that kind of people, he becomes a whole different person.

He sounds childish, letting his emotions control him.
