The leader of the Cadet Corps who arranges for his soldiers to go on a mission to retrieve Eren from Reiner and Bertholdt.  While leading the squad, a Titan appears and chomps off his arm.  However, Erwin yells that they all continue the mission, and he later appears to cut Eren free where Mikasa can catch him.  He continues to fight even though he is bleeding heavily from his now missing arm.
