Rayis is part of the Kastel guard sworn to protect the royal family from any and all harm. After the attack she has to bear with the fact that her entire kingdom, her people, everything she cared for is gone. The only thing she has left is that Silica (one of the main party members) looks exactly like the princess and she believes it to truly be her. She does not know however that everyone in the royal family died during the attack at the beginning of the game. This is obviously kept a secret from her for a long time. (Think of her as a combination of Freya and Beatrix from Final Fantasy 9)

I guess when it comes to her voice I always thought of it as kind yet forceful (If that even makes sense also sorry this one’s a bit long...)
