Hi Zarien,

Thank you for taking the time to audition for Ray Okonkwo in BLUE HOUR: Sacramento.

After reviewing the auditions for Ray, I’d like to officially offer you the role.

Your audition stood out because you were the first actor who really captured how I envisioned Ray as a character—not just his voice, but his personality. You balanced his humor and chemistry with the team with the quieter, more supportive side of him, while still making his tactical delivery feel believable.

The biggest direction I can give you moving forward is to keep that natural quality in your performance. Ray shouldn’t sound like a stereotypical SWAT character. He’s a person first, and your audition captured that extremely well.

Ray is an important character in BLUE HOUR, both to the team and to the larger story, so I’m looking forward to working with you and developing him further.

Congratulations, and welcome to BLUE HOUR: Sacramento.

Ray Okonkwo is a core member of Sacramento Metro SWAT and one of the emotional anchors of the team.

Ray is Nigerian-American, experienced, dependable, observant, and naturally warm. Around the team he has an easy sense of humor and feels like someone you'd genuinely want beside you on a bad day. When a situation becomes dangerous, that warmth gives way to a focused, controlled professional.

We are looking for a natural adult male performance with warmth, confidence, and emotional range. Ray should sound like a real person rather than a stereotypical action-game soldier. Please do not force an African accent; the character is Nigerian-American.

Ray's relationships with his teammates are important to BLUE HOUR, so the actor needs to handle humor and ordinary conversation just as convincingly as tactical dialogue and serious emotional scenes.

Performance style: grounded, conversational, warm, confident and believable. Natural pauses and reactions are encouraged. Avoid an announcer, movie-trailer, or exaggerated military delivery.

This is a major recurring character beginning with the FIRST LIGHT playable demo

  • Hey, nobody's asking you to fix everything tonight. Just get through the next five minutes. We'll worry about the rest after that

  • Contact, left side! Tennant, stay with me. Koval, hold that doorway. I've got the hall.
