Hey!

I’ve listened through your Jack Mercer audition again, and I’ve made my decision.

I’d like to officially offer you the role of Jack Mercer in BLUE HOUR: Sacramento.

Jack is an important character for this project. He’s the operational leader of Metro SWAT, so I needed somebody who could sound authoritative without forcing the stereotypical “tough SWAT commander” voice. Your performance has the natural, controlled quality I’ve been looking for.

I also think your voice gives us room to show the other side of Jack—the dry humor, his relationship with the rest of Metro, and those moments where he’s basically trying to keep Koval and everyone else under control.

If you accept, I’ll put together your Jack Mercer material with his FIRST LIGHT dialogue and everything you’ll need for recording.

Jack Mercer is the team leader of Sacramento Metro SWAT and one of BLUE HOUR's major recurring characters.

Jack is an experienced leader who earns authority through trust rather than volume. He is calm, observant, protective of his people, and capable of making difficult decisions under pressure. Around the team, however, he's still one of them—he can joke, get irritated, and speak casually without constantly sounding like someone's commanding officer.

We are looking for a mature adult male performance with natural authority and emotional depth. Jack should command a room without needing to shout.

Avoid the stereotypical gravelly SWAT commander, drill-sergeant, or action-movie performance. We want a believable person who happens to lead a tactical team.

Performance style: grounded, confident, controlled, conversational and emotionally believable.

This is a major recurring character beginning with the FIRST LIGHT playable demo.
