Hey! Thanks again for auditioning for Jack Mercer in BLUE HOUR: Sacramento.
I’ve narrowed Jack down to two actors, and you’re one of the final two.
I really liked what I heard in your audition, so for this callback I want to hear you using actual dialogue from FIRST LIGHT. I’m mainly listening for Jack’s command presence, his calmer side, and the dry way he handles the personalities on his team.
1 — Taking Command“All right. Listen up. We keep this simple. Nobody gets ahead of the team, nobody goes looking for a fight.”
“We’ve got people inside, information’s incomplete, and that’s exactly why we’re slowing this down.”
2 — Calm Leadership“Okay. We know more than we did thirty seconds ago. Nobody rushes this.”
“Tennant, he’s yours. Take your time.”
“Everybody hold. Give her room.”
3 — Dealing With KovalFor context:
JOHNSON: “Mercer, control your people.”
MERCER: “You’ve met my people.”
And:
KOVAL: “Still get a gun?”
MERCER: “Focus.”
KOVAL: “Focused.”
4 — End of MissionMERCER: “Good work. Everybody goes home. That’s a win.”
Jack is Metro SWAT’s operational team leader. I’m not looking for an exaggerated action-hero or stereotypical SWAT voice. He should sound like someone people naturally listen to—calm, experienced and authoritative, with enough personality that his relationship with the team feels real.
Feel free to give me multiple takes if you hear any of the lines differently.
You’ve made it to the final two for Jack Mercer, so thank you for putting the time into this. I’m looking forward to hearing what you do with him.
