Lawrence Cane is the Chancellor of Father's Kingdom. He embodies all the horrible aspects of privilege, entitlement, and royalty. He is a dictator who runs almost every aspect of the Sister Cities, except for the religion, which for some unknown reason is protecting Charles. Chancellor Cane despises Charles for this and many other reasons, yet he tries to hide his hatred behind a veil of class and sophistication. Think Baron Harkonnen from Dune. Lawrence Cane only has 1 line (the first line of these 3) in Episode 2. I am including other lines so I can cast for the other episodes now.
Father’s Kingdom is all we have, brothers and sisters, let us not destroy it through sloth. Another day awaits to reaffirm your value in the eyes of Father. Hold firmly to His gifts and work hard.
You know, maybe Brother Wilson was right. Matters like these can be solved by looking for guidance in scripture. What does The Book of James say? 'When His archangel brings Father's insight to a nation, that nation shall be saved from its own desolate hopelessness. And the archangel will blame their decadence on their desire for unknowable knowledge.' The secularism and activism in Salem District will be taken care of, and as Chancellor of the sister cities, I’m the perfect servant to exact Father’s will.
My office has been working diligently to put an end to the crime and violence in Salem District. The end won’t come through divinity, Brother Wilson, it will come through the actions of the Sacred Trust. The pigs that pollute that city will learn to behave.
