Background

Dyani Waters is often first encountered in the form of a solitary deer standing beside a lonely road. Unlike many spirits of the Grimwoods, she moves freely between human settlements and the wilderness, understanding both worlds while belonging fully to neither.

Though she shares a connection with Mr. Kretchet and Tekai, Dyani rarely associates with them. She prefers the company of the Palestones and spends much of her time observing travelers, villages, and forgotten roads.

Stories of her have spread among generations of settlers and forest dwellers alike.

Some describe her as a beautiful young woman with dark eyes and the legs of a deer. Others claim she appears only as a white-tailed doe standing silently in the mist. Many dismiss these tales as folklore.
