Our main character, Detective Private Investigator Constable Odo!

Odo is heavily inspired by Sheriff Bigby Wolf: morally ambiguous, no-nonsense and not afraid to do what he feels needs doing to reach his goal. I chose a Komodo Dragon as they’re not so often anthropomorphised and I was sort of hoping I could make a “Dragon of [boring place name here]” (Yakuza) pun. The main plot twist at the end would be that he is not a lizard-man, but an animal dressed up to look like a detective in the hopes that people would take him seriously. How can he talk? Please don’t ask me.

Generic Noir detectives inspired me: rough around the edges, scraped knuckles, a brown trench coat - perhaps a fedora that hides his eyes (and his feelings.) I wanted burly, rugged, straight out of a movie… Everything Odo believes a detective looks like. Because he isn’t one, he just wants people to think he is.He was also meant to look very simple. Not only will we, the player, hardly see him, but his concerns certainly don’t lie with the latest fashions. They lie with selling himself off as “a private investigator, a detective… or just - something that will get people to take me seriously!”

Like in games such as The Wolf Among Us, or Undertale, Odo's personality is meant to change slightly with the player's actions. He can be rough and mean if the player bids it, but he can also be soft should we want him to, too. After finding himself trapped by magic in a strange town, Odo will initially be so cock-sure and delusional that he believes he has come there on purpose. Only by fighting or speaking with characters in town may Odo learn the real nature of why he is there, from which the player can choose their ending.

Odo will be gruff, no nonsense, and morally ambiguous. As he is a Komodo dragon man and his origins are unknown, actors can be quite free with his mannerisms and accent, however, I am leaning away from strong European or English accents. Odo's voice role is easily the most vocal and diverse in the game and will include internal monologues, questions, shouting, whispers etc.

Voice actors are encouraged to feel free to / have fun with maybe giving him a slight hiss or lisp as he IS a lizard. I would like him to have a slight snarl / sneer / growl in his voice as most times, so being able to do this is a plus!

Some character inspirations for Odo are:

-Telltale's / Bill Willingham's Bigby Wolf (as seen in The Wolf Among Us, 2013)

-Rango (at the end of the film where he becomes a cool sheriff kinda guy)
