Spider-Man & The Human Torch CASTING CALL
Thatcrazyguy for Roderick Kingsley / Hobgoblin
(Primary Antagonist, Male, 30s–40s)
A flamboyantly theatrical, but smooth and calculating businessman who hides a sinister alter ego. As Kingsley, his voice should be charming, measured, and charismatic, with a bit of a flair. As Hobgoblin, it should shift into something theatrically menacing and unhinged. Two sides of the same coin. Range is important here, since the dual identity is key to the performance.
(Note: We'd prefer an African-American man for the role.)
(Lecturing, calculating) “Success isn’t about luck, it’s about leverage. And I have more than enough of that to get what I want. People often underestimate me because they think that I am an easy target. I have an eye for theatrics, for the extravagant. They don't realize that I can use that against them."
(Menacing. As Hobgoblin) “Spider-Man, you’ve played this game for too long. Tonight, it ends… and I win.”
(Unhinged, dramatic laughter) “HAH! Yes, run! Run faster! It makes the chase so much more fun!”
