{Castaways} Fire Emblem: Fates Recasting
peternishimura for M!Corrin
Voice Range: Medium-Low - Medium-High
Reference: Japanese / English
Our main character with as much personality as a sponge and intelligence of a shounen protagonist.
All kidding aside, Corrin is a righteous prince with a strong ambition; to end the war with no bloodshed. He seeks to save all that he can, enemy or not. He is charismatic when is needs to be and always kind to his friends and family.
I much prefer his Japanese voice over his English voice, although both takes are solid. The Japanese voice has a softer and younger tonality to it that really makes him sound like a young, naive protagonist whilst the English went hammy on the protagonist aspect.
This role has the most amount of lines. Do not attempt to audition if you know you will not stick to this character for a long time.
I was just thinking about my siblings. I’ve got quite a few. Do you have any brothers and sisters?
I'm Corrin—born in Hoshido, though raised in Nohr. I will fight for you with my Yato blade and dragon power!
(During a confession, other character ask about Corrin's feelings for her)
...Fine, I’ll give you an answer. But to clarify, I only started feeling this way AFTER you told me the truth about us. I love you, too...
I like the voice you auditioned with. It sounds mature enough to be a young prince but just young enough as well. One thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is the speed of your delivery. It is very, VERY fast. I can hear words being lost or being ran over and I can also hear it inhibiting your acting. It feels like you are holding yourself back from showing emotion. When you talk fast, It is harder to convery deeper and meaningful emotions. I would take some time to just pull up random scenes in movies or animation, and listen to how fast they talk. Or even better, relate to how you talk to anyone in real life, whether it be strangers or people you are familiar with. I'd talk fast enough to not take up to much time speaking, but slow enough so that they can understand my words. Since this is recorded audio, something i would like for you to try is record yourself saying something like "Hello my name is ___, I am ___ years old, and I like to voice act." Deliver it like you would in real life. Then I want you to listen back to this audition and compare the speeds of the delivery. Trying to sound natural can be very difficult and many times we do not realize we sound unnatural. It's always worth it to take some time and study the difference between the two because once you get what sounding natural does sound like, it'll just click in your brain. It's like riding a bicycle. It makes no sense in the beginning and you feel like you are always falling off, but once you get it you think, " What the heck! This was so simple all along?" However, like everything in life, it doesn't come to you without some study and practice. That critique will apply to all of your lines in this audition. The fast delivery really harms your delivery of the 3rd line especially. It's a very emotional line. Corrin is nervous. He's about to confess to the girl he likes who has just confessed to him. Put yourself in the shows of the character. How would you act or feel when you are suddenly put on the spot to confess to someone? Getting into the character and feeling this emotions is key to acting. You can not just say the lines in an angry tone. You can not just say the lines in a loving tone. You can not just say the lines in a cheerful tone. You have to feel angry, loving, and cheerful. You have to feel it first, then deliver.
I naturally speak fast, so I'll try to slow it down next time. In any case, thank you so much. This is very helpful.
