Antonia's king and Eliza's father, Victor is a cheerful, carefree man, much to the contrast to his wife. An arranged marriage when he was young led to much quarrel between Elaine and himself. He often takes Eliza's side on issues, given they share similar views and have the same mindset.

(poking fun) Please, Ellie, she’s fine! Do you not remember sleeping in when you were young too? Be glad she's risen before noon. It would require half the barracks' soldiers to wake me this early when I was her age.
(weak, dying, pained) Elizabeth, your mother has always pursued what she thinks is best for you. While I admire her efforts, you cannot let her take away your freedom and choice. Please, when I'm gone, promise that you will follow your heart, Eliza. Your mother's words mean nothing to a soul as pure as yours.
