Personality

One of the two main protagonists.  Russo is a great detective and used to be a great guy.  He changed after making a bad call that got his first partner killed.  Since then he has become a functioning alcoholic and a sarcastic prick.  He is quick witted and smart so tearing people down or making up some bs on the fly is easy for him.  He bends the rules when he feels it is right and pushes the menial tasks from his job on Tek Guy and the interns.  He talks down to just about everyone except Mallory, who he calls Mals.  Since his first partner died, he hasn’t been able to keep one, because they can’t stand working with him. 

The only reason the Chief keeps him around is because he is very good at what he does.  Looking for a weathered, gritty, and snarky voice. It is not required but is preferred he has an upper east coast accent.  (New York, New Jersey… etc  “NOT BOSTON”)

Line 1 - Russo responds to how he knows the video editing software by making up a vlog series he does on the internet just to be a sarcastic prick to his new partner.

“I have a vlog on Rumblr.”

His partner responds with “Yeah, right.  Who in their right mind would wanna watch you talk about anything?”

“I review dive bars around the city.  I have very specific criteria for a good rating on a dive.  Like how likely you are to get in a fight, get your keys taken for bein too drunk, the strength of the drinks, and how desperate the woman are that go there.”

Line 2 - Russo’s partner Birch doesn’t want to watch the footage of this crazy internet personality because the material disgusts him.  So Rupert uses it as a lesson in detective work.

“The way you are acting right this second shows exactly why all of this is important.  When people get that worked up, it gives plenty of motive for murder.  So, someone needs to watch all of this guy's footage.  Look for anyone he may have called out directly.  Check the comments on his videos.  Look for death threats, comb through his mail, find blogs where people like you are freaking out about him.  Not just him, the other vics too.  This right here, this conspiracy theory psycho babble BS you hate so much might be the thing that links all three of our vics together.”

Line 3 - Russo is in an argument with Birch after everything went to crap earlier that day.  He blames Birch for screwing everything up by ignoring Russo’s advice and not making a decision fast enough.  Said with sarcasm and some animosity.

“Hurray! Congratu-freakin-lations! You all hear that? Birch finally did something today! You know that thing rest of us do every day! Our jobs!”
