Ruby is an earth pony mare from Sunset's country town. She's quite a gentle and compassionate mare. She is a friend of Radiance's, but she does not approve of the way Radiance treats her daughter. Ruby is a source of comfort for Sunset Shimmer and later becomes her guardian. Ruby is the mare who finds out about Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns and takes Sunset to Canterlot to enrol her into the school. Ruby is very kind and gentle, and has a soothing, gentle voice.



  • Ruby (softly; with compassion): What are you going to name the baby?

  • Ruby (excitedly): Oh my gosh, Radiance! She’s beautiful!

  • Ruby (comfortingly): Oh, Sunset Shimmer, it’s okay. You can talk to me.
