Crimson’s appearance was due to an experiment funded by a few royals and nobles of Glaves.  He was a test subject for most of his childhood.  Scientists were trying to merge Fiend cells with beast cells.   Crimson escaped but was feared due to his appearance.  He was hunted and nearly killed multiple times.  Garth found Crimson (almost dead) and gave him a home.  They became brothers.  Crimson never wants another fiend child to suffer the way he did.
