Alex is a caterpillar shaped Automaton who is the foreman at the experimental dry docks. They are cheerful to a fault and happiest when building airships. The only brief glimpse of sadness pops up when they find out the nephew of his favorite engineer turned out to be a linguist instead of following the family trade. Alex has an androgynous voice.
