NARNIA -- "The Magician's Nephew" -- Chapter 1! (Digory still needed!)
Austin Wayne for Digory
Hullo, What's your name? ... Digory... It isn't half so funny as Polly. (read Polly's part for context)
Alright, I have then (--said Digory in a much louder voice, like a boy who was so miserable that he didn't care who knew he had been crying.) And so would you, if you'd lived all your life in the country and had a pony, and a river at the bottom of the garden, and then been brought to live in a beastly Hole like this.
You may think it interesting, But you wouldn't like it if you had to sleep there. How would you like to lie awake listening for Uncle Andrew's step to come creeping along the passage to your room? And he has such awful eyes.
I may not be able to pull off a convincing childish voice, but it's the best I've got! Thanks for the opportunity!
Hmm... Yes I see what you mean about not having an exactly childish voice. Do you think maybe doing it a bit higher would help? I might be okay with an "older" sounding Digory though. Would you mind doing an extended audition? Read the section below. (If you want to try out a new voice, then please do it in both the voice you used for your 1st audition, as well as the new voice.) Thanks Austin! "Don't you see? No, do listen. Think of our tunnel under the slates at home. It isn't a room in any of the houses. In a way, it isn't really part of any of the houses. But once you're in the tunnel you can go along it and come into any of the houses in the row. Mightn't this wood be the same?—a place that isn't in any of the worlds, but once you've found that place you can get into them all."
OK! I'll try a little higher. Is it OK if I have my audition in tonight?
Sounds good!
Well I guess if you are going to try higher... maybe do the original lines in the high voice, then the additional lines (about the tunnel) in both your 1st audition voice and the high voice. Hopefully that makes sense!
Sure! I can do that!
