Unpaid
Role assigned to: Damian A. Ramirez

Payment: $15

Audition does not have all lines.

I'd like Razz to sound tough, brutish, a bit thuggish. But he's trying to change his ways. He's younger than most other thug roles I've put up though. He was a former gang member.

Here is Razz's bio ==> Razz's bio

Race: Hispanic

Build: Physically imposing. But also extremely agile.

Accent: North American. No Southern accent. No British accent.

Voice: Medium/deep.

Age: 24-35

Appearance: Imagine how a person like this would sound==> Razz's new face

  • (This is after he likes that his team has his back)

I thought all that touchy-feely teamwork bullshit was kind of fruity... but it kinda feels good knowing my squad's got my back.

(Angry) (About to fight someone) (menacing) (plays with a knife and points it towards you) (Not yelling but rather a cold, brooding voice)

I know I talk a lot of shit about the army, but you come around here one more time..and you won't live another day. You hear?

{Tripping out on a drug called Psycho} (Euphoric) (Gotta sound unnatural like he's on a drug, bipolar)

Ha ha, fuck me, Jack's shit is still the best!

    (talking about his teammates)

O'Hanrahan's a big pussy, ain't good for shit in a fight, and Mags... well, Mags is cut out for something other than soldiering, you dig?

    (talking about his old gang)

I used to run with the Fiends, I still got the hookups. Smuggle some in and you'll see an improvement.

Acting is solid but mic and sound quality is not good for production.

Would a re-recording with different settings possibly change anything? Or am I restricted to Audio Log roles? haha

Unfortunately I don't think a re-recording would change things. It's the same issue with all of your other auditions. Great acting and inflection marred by sound quality. You'd need a different mic I think. I think you'd pull in a lot of roles (here and everywhere else) once you do.

The standard on Casting Call Club seems to be the Blue Yeti. It's the cheapest mic with sound-quality that's passable for most projects.

Hey, I uhh... Found out what was wrong. I've been speaking into the back of my microphone...

Not necessarily. I used to record with a Samson Go Mic, which costs $40. The Yeti retails for $130 and its sound quality is not much better with the right recording environment. Other USB mics for under $100 are the Samson Meteor, CAD U37 and Blue Snowflake. You also need to watch for room echo (condenser mics are VERY sensitive, but pick up more subtleties in your voice).

Notice you have the Rode NT1 A. How does it compare to the Blue Yeti? Is it worth the extra costs. Money isn't an issue for me but would like to see if the differences are worth the costs.

(this will take a while to explain) Short answer: NT1-A can record better quality audio, but it's an XLR condenser mic which requires an audio interface with 48V phantom power so it's much more expensive. Long answer: The NT1-A is VERY sensitive so you need good soundproofing but I like it because it has neutral sound and very low self-noise. Even though it costs over $100, it's still the bottom end of professional equipment (good enough for commercials, narration & audiobooks, but not cartoons and films). A basic audio interface will run you at least $50-100 on eBay if you're lucky. If you want a USB mic with similar sound quality, you'll need around $200. If you don't want to go pro and/or if you're not an audiophile, it's not worth it. If you have more questions, PM me.

Actually it's quite interesting. I'm finding the more and more I do research on the Samson Go Mic, the more and more I'm interested in buying it. I like it because it's the size of half my palm so it's easy to carry around. I still do feel the Yeti has better sound (looked at some sound comparisons) but the sound quality is great for something that small, inexpensive and it's so compact (great for travel). Lot of folks are mentioning the Atr2100, which is apparently half the price of a Yeti but sounds similar. But with regards to your previous statement, I think I'm not so sold on buying the NT1A. Not that I don't believe the sound quality would be better, but with buying an audio interface, it comes out to almost the price of two Blue Yetis and I can't help but feel that I'd be disappointed when I put it side-by-side with the Yeti. But then again, most of my use of mics is more towards voice-direction. I don't do this for a living but I do love voice-acting as a hobby.
