Royal Duality
Jett Barker for Half-human/Half-demon
We're looking for British performances, but will consider other accents where there is a strong performance.
Sirius is forced to work under a dark manipulative vampiric Cleric. However, eager to be set free, he has made the dangerous decision to help his Master's enemy so he might able to escape his situation and enjoy his life again. He is a 25-year-old good-time trickster incubus (or rather, he dreams of being a socialite) , who is in love with Lewis (listed above as fae diplomat), he would ideally like to have an affair with Lewis in secret as he himself doesn’t like the ideal of commitment...(and does not want to tarnish Lewis' squeaky clean image). Sirius is upbeat and fun-loving, it is very uncommon for him to become deep and serious unless he is with someone he trusts...and he has trust issues. He'd rather be cordial, entertaining and aloof initially, rather than risk exposing weaknesses in his character.
He can be deceptive to those he does not like and deploys cunning to secure the best outcome for himself... He often uses his humour and wit to charm people around to his way of thinking, many consider him a disarming buffoon, but he in fact calculates most of his behaviour in order to get what he wants. Sirius works with both groups in the story and from time to time, and the audience will be uncertain as to whether he is friend or foe. However, after being initially sassy with the Fae group, he begins to genuinely value their friendship and will even work hard to protect them (with a dash of humour and flamboyance). He enjoys pleasure and when drunk becomes a little melodramatic and will speak his mind with hilarious consequences.
Despite the bluster, he is sentimental and a hopeless romantic. He is an adventurer personality type, he will try and push the boundaries and will stop at nothing to save his own skin. https://www.16personalities.com/isfp-personality
This story sees Sirius open up, from being cautious and superficial, only interested in his own survival, to loyal, by making a group of friends who he begins to deeply care about... His master at the beginning of the game makes Sirius think he's no more than a useless 'jester', but the Fae group try to show Sirius he is much more than that and they value him. In good endings, Sirius will be fully redeemed and be saved from his cruel fate, in others he will willingly surrender his morals and diminish into a stereotypical demon. He will have an emotional journey with highs and lows, a vibrant and emotional performance will be required, whilst the pitch is not particularly important, we are looking for a tenor or baritone performance for this role.
Sirius: I’m a wretch Lewis! An absolute wretch! (Sirius is drunk and swallows some vomit down and then seems to recover himself a little, he sounds regretful of his behaviour, but purely because of the nausea not for ruining the Royal Party).
Sirius: I was certain I could hold my liquor better than that! I’m out of practice! (Sirius sounds surprised when he says the first sentence, but is sighing as he speaks when he says ‘I’m out of practice’)
Sirius: What kind of a question is that?! Of course I am! I’m living in the lap of luxury, full of fine wine and food, I’ve been dancing all night and the headache hasn’t kicked in! (Sirius reels off reasons to be cheerful, Sirius doesn’t seem to understand how to ‘care’ for Lewis’ feelings yet, the attraction is purely physical)
