This character is meant to be speaking through a radio, or some sort of broadcasting device. He is talking to someone important. This character has a voice that should convey how done he sounds. He should sound as if there is no hope left for his cause, so making him sound sad and defeated would be an excellent fit.
(Clearing throat at the start, swallows in fear and begins his announcement) Ahem... This will be my last message. If somebody, anybody at all, is able to receive this SOS broadcast, then please listen closely. I will already have passed... but please, listen...
(Bracing for the worst, not yet frightened but getting to that point) We should have not been so clumsy while doing our work out there in the field. This whole project was what started all of this.
(Now panicking, starting to become frantic) I know my end will not be a gentle one. Whatever we found out in the Target Zone is going to kill me. I've been followed. But please, dear listener, do not ignore this broadcast...
