This character should sound as if he's in danger, and that he is preparing for his demise, but should ALSO sound determined to live on if he escapes whatever is following him. A mixture of fearful, yet brave at times, would fit this character best. He is a middle aged man and should have a voice that does not necessarily convey the fact that he is growing older, rather, he should sound fit and sturdy despite his age.
