~Rise From The Ashes - Arc I ~ : Staff and Lead VAs (CLOSED)
KeybladeAli for Aiden
Summary: Aiden is a sensitive and generous young man, in his early twenties and living with his partner, Dr Douglas Slade above the Sunny Samuels Medical Clinic. He works as a receptionist there and a barista at a coffee place called 'The Joint', but later returns to university to study psychiatry and become a doctor himself. Although young, he is rather mature and focused, so isn't always the most appreciative of Slade's excessive PDA and 'distractions' from work. He is also rather religious and is loved by many. Later he goes on to become Ash's adoptive father with Slade when he comes to live with them in New York. Aiden cares greatly for his family and will happily spoil them when Slade's back is turned. Interestingly, Aiden has been possessed from childhood by an angelic and demonic spirit, who lie dormant within him. When he needs to launch into heroic action, the angel grants Aiden his powers, to become the popular hero known as Cross. As for the demonic spirit, he thankfully lies dormant -for now...
Appearance: Arc I (supporting) and Arc II (Leading role throughout) - The lines include a mixture from both Arcs, since we would ideally like to keep the same VA for consistency.
Personality: Kind, Considerate, Sensitive, Caring, Intelligent, Soft, Religious, Faithful, Responsible, Brave, Protective and just a little snarky at times, especially towards Slade.
Voice: Friendly and slightly soft, being mid-pitch. Aiden never curses or uses the Lord's name in vain (and he will be sure to scold you if he catches you doing so!) and he doesn't get angered too much, so only occasionally yells. He is relatively calm and speaks with a light country accent due to his origins in Kansas (the accent is optional, but if you can do one we'd love to hear it!)
(Cheerfully in a friendly manner) Good morning and welcome to Sunny Samuels Medical Clinic. How may we help you today? Do you have an appointment with--(cut off by his phone ringing) a-ah, sorry, please excuse me. (Picking up with a sigh) What do you want, Slade? How many times have I told you not to call or send those flirty messages when I'm working?
(Frustrated and uncomfortable, on the phone to Slade) Of course I’m not okay, you idiot! I’m tied up on the floor and these guys are annoying as heck! Nnngh! (Suddenly sounding rather panicked) No, it won't be okay! Stay away, Slade! They're after you and they'll do h-horrible things to you!
(Shocked, making way for anger, hissing a little) Oh my...y-you spent three hundred dollars over your agreed phone bill...because you were looking up *pornography*?! (Scowling) I don't care whose fault it was, I will not have this...*blasphemous* material in my house! I'm confiscating your phone indefinitely and *you* young man are going to join us at *church*!
(Snappy) Oh please they know very well what's going on! You're not exactly known for your acting skills! Just because you're old doesn't mean you have to treat everyone like a child! Especially not me!
(Proudly and warmly) Aw, you're coming on so well with your classes - and those exam scores are definitely something to be proud about! Hey, why don't we go and celebrate later. Whose up for a pizza takeout~? I'm sure we can squeeze some dessert in too. Even Slade can't complain about the sugar content for once.
(Somewhat stunned, but making way for elation) I-I said...Yes! You're right, a lot has happened, and I know what I said years ago, but the more time I spent with you, the more I regretted what I said. I probably just needed more time...but now I know the answer!
Hi Ali! Thanks so much for trying out the other auditions as well, it means a lot to us! I'm so happy you seem so excited for this project haha :D Your Aiden was pretty good! The country accent had a nice twang to it, you got some pretty good expression in there and it flowed nicely! I know sometimes it can be difficult to convey proper emotion without knowing the circumstances but some of the lines could have done with a little more emotion or expression, in particular the second, third and last two lines. He's definitely more irritated in the first part of the 2nd line, before that becomes more fearful by the second half and the ahem, phone bill incident requires a bit more incredulousness and then anger, because Aiden detests anything of this nature XD He's not an easy role, that's for sure, but I liked your interpretation, just those little nitpicks to give as feedback and I feel especially harsh giving them haha Hopefully it helps though! Thanks again so much for all the auditions Ali! :D
