I am curious - are you British? Your audition makes it sound as though you are really English but trying to put on an American accent! :)
Really? No I'm 100% Canadian lol! I'm not sure how that happened but I'd be happy to try it again if you'd prefer haha. That's kinda funny because I've tried for a long time to do a British accent and can't even come close :P
Ah - embarrassing... (Funnily enough - I actually spent a year in Collingwood, ONT and Toronto. I should have paid attention to the way you said 'White hose'. That is kind of a giveaway, now that I think about it.) So - here is your reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJqO_wW5nlU&feature=youtu.be&t=42 One of the big problems with your audition is that it is slow, deliberate, and heavily punctuated by pauses - or there are longer gaps in Kaede's speech than there needs to be. Kaede is a cheerful, vivacious and optimistic girl with lots of positive energy; so the rhythm of her voice would be faster. But determined also - since she is giving a speech. Also - I don't want to come off as mean spirited, but I need Kaede to talk with a generic American accent. But the biggest change of all - you need to talk faster. Just listen to a couple of minutes from the video URL I linked you, and try to imitate the VA, Erika Harlacher, and that should give you an idea. Good luck, eh? :)
Lol all good! I just think it's kinda ironic you thought I was British when that accent frustrates me to no end! I was a little concerned about that coming off at certain points that I'm Canadian and not American so that's good to know why it stood out to you in parts though! I'm going to check out the link you gave me because I was a bit concerned that the one I'd looked at when I looked for some reference for her voice, wasn't the best representation of her because it seemed very slow and mellow in contrast to what you'd had for description. So I'm thinking I must have been looking at a bad video for her overall character, so I appreciate you linking in a better one for reference :) And no don't worry at all, you don't sound mean spirited or anything! It's 100% understandable, especially considering the context that you would want an American accent. Wouldn't sound very authentic if someone with say a European accent was running for president lol. Thanks again though! I appreciate all the feedback and direction! I'll take a bit of time and see what I can come up with. And hopefully sound more American lol
