Haaken Kron (ha-ken kron) is an ex-priest, poet, and the first husband of Sara. He was given to Astraean priests as a small child because his parents lacked the money to care for him and a chronic illness that he was afflicted with. He grew up as an Astraean Monk, but was often abused by those higher in the hierarchy. As a result, he wished to leave the church. Haaken met Sara while she was visiting his church, and fell in love with her. He wrote her love poems for months before stealing one of his abusers' horses and riding across the country to propose to her.

Haaken is a teenage boy of 16 years. He is very sickly and meek, and his voice should reflect those attributes.
