Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni: English Dub (RECASTING FOR SATOSHI)
BasicRez for Satoshi Hojou
- VOICE RANGE: HIGH -
Satoshi is the older brother of Satoko. He is not present through the majority of the story, but is the initiator of many of the events that take place in his absence, namely the serial murders committed in several arcs. Satoshi is a quiet and soft-spoken person who is kind and seemingly calm, although he clearly worries about his younger sister and seems to get frustrated or discouraged rather easily, sometimes having trouble focusing. Their mother and step father died in an accident on the night of the Cotton Drifting festival. As such, Satoshi's aunt and uncle became their foster parents, but both Satoshi and Satoko were abused by them, though Satoshi often took the blows for his little sister. This is only revealed by Shion, as she was always concerned that while Satoshi didn't want to make a fuss, Satoko cried and got attention and sympathy, even though Satoshi was ill as a result of the abuse. He eventually murders his aunt, and runs from town, leaving Satoko and Shion behind.
(Angry, warning) Hey! Stop that! Leave her alone, ok? (Short pause, then friendly) You ok Mion? I think you’re safe now.
(Friendly, a little confused) I thought the conversations Mion and I had in class were a little odd sometimes. Now it makes sense. Nice to meet you, Shion.
(Upset, afraid) What did any of us ever do to you? Why do people always gang up on us? First my parents suffer the village’s wrath, and now that they’re gone it’s our turn? What did we do to deserve this!?
So sorry about the little pick up in the back. A motorcycle went past and I tried to edit it out best I could without damaging the voice quality.
This is very good! You’ve got great emotion here!! Love the sense of urgency in the first line. Some notes though is that the pronunciation of Mion and Shion is slightly off. It’s Mi-own and Shi-own. Also there’s a little bit of echo in the audio, you could try surrounding your set up with pillows or blankets to help with that. I hope that helps. Overall, great work! :)
