Doug, AKA Ratman, is a schizophrenic employee of Aperture Science and the protagonist of the Lab Rat comic. He works behind the scenes to help the games' protagonist, Chell, in her fight against GLaDOS, the homicidal AI that controls the facility. He talks to the companion cube, an inanimate object that he perceives as speaking to him in return.
Many of Doug's lines border on the metaphysical, and at times he talks to himself. I'm looking for someone fairly experienced who can capture the philosophical side of this character.
"Reality is a story the mind tells itself. An artificial structure conjured into being by the calcium ion exchange of a million synaptic firings. A truth so strange it can only be lied into existence. And our minds can lie. Never doubt it."
"Only one thing it can mean. She did it. It's over. The ultimate systems crash."
"But even if it works, there will be no wake-up date. She'll be in there indefinitely. So it's the long sleep...or the long sleep. And I don't know which is worse. Forgive me."
