The human protagonist. Late teens to early twenties. A regular college dropout with a lack of direction in life. Becomes involved in intergalactic political struggles when she picks Lanx up off the street. Naive but strong-willed. Often curious and asks a lot of questions. A little bit of a tomboy. Sounds younger and more naive than she really is.
Higher voice (high alto to soprano) preferred.
“All I want is a little bit of...not this. Excitement, adventure! Hell, I’ll just settle for a raise. C’mon life! Just give me something! <beat> Yeah, I figured as much.”
(whining) “But I’m so booored. <beat> And I’m staaarving. <beat> And it took forever to figure out the damn bathroom. <beat> And they won’t let us oooout.”
(dejected) “Even if it’s just programming, it’s nice that you care. <beat> at least someone does. <beat> Lanx...Lanx isn’t coming to get me, is he? None of them are.”
(mumbling to herself, flustered) “Oh my god oh my god oh my god. <beat> Did that really just happen? Did he...did he ask me to be his girlfriend? Do aliens even have that kind of concept? <beat> Oh man, this is way too fast. We barely know each other! <beat> I mean, he is nice and all. <beat> and he said that my asexuality was ok. <beat> maybe it’ll work. Maybe it’ll work? <beat> no no no no no what am I thinking? He’s an alien. An alien from an alien military on an alien planet. If any of his superiors found out about me they’d probably take me away and dissect me or something. <beat> What if he deserts them for me? Then we’d have the kindred, and the IGC, and the kerthas military after us...that’s too much!”
