Haruhi is dedicated to her studies and aspires to enter law school to emulate her deceased mother. She is practical and honest to a fault but also caring and insightful. While she often finds the antics of the Host Club annoying, she appreciates their protectiveness of her and their genuine desire to "make every girl happy." The series shows how Haruhi interacts with each of the hosts in different ways and how her relationships with them evolve over time. While apathetic towards events, she is astute in gauging other people's motives. Throughout the anime, Haruhi remains friendly towards all the hosts, despite several of them stating romantic feelings towards her.
