My name is Gabriel Novak. Starting a month ago and for the next year, I'm on 24 hour house arrest. Turns out that the government doesn't take too kindly to civilians hacking into their databases. I spent my high school years being an asshole of a student, my college years decidedly screwing up every opportunity handed to me, and traveled across the world whenever the urge hit me as an adult. I picked up a few tricks here and there, met a lot of people, ate a lot of food- it was great. But curiosity killed the cat, it turns out. I buried myself into deep web mythologies and epic conspiracy theories, as one does when one has too much time on their hands, and I just couldn't help myself. I put time and effort into learning how to hack, if only to further my insatiable desire to learn about my current obsession. One thing led to another and suddenly I found myself face down on the floor of a friend's house with someone's knee in my back as they slapped some cuffs on me. Court? Not fun. Jail? Not fun. You know what was the least fun? My dad, Mister LAPD, Officer Of The Law, cooperating every step of the way. His emotions throughout the ordeal fell between pure enjoyment and mild indifference, which is just about par for the course. My half sister, Lex, was by my side through it all. She was always in my corner, even if I was too stupid to realize it.
