Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal Fandub: Yuma Vs. Shark I
LerminAura for Astral
Character Description: Astral is a being from the Astral World, who has lost his memories. This results to him being quite literal with everything told and provided to him and becoming curious with a lot of things throughout the world. Despite the memory loss, he does retain one skill: Dueling. He becomes Yuma’s teacher/guidance throughout his duels and helps hone Yuma’s skills to a better level. Astral’s goal is to find all of the Number cards, which should help restore his memory.
Voice Description: Because of his curiosity and celestial appearance, Astral will have a sort of majesty to his voice. Speaking in a rather unique way and emphasizing or extending the speech of certain words in his sentences. For reference, look up Marc Thompson’s portrayal of Astral. A similar sort of voice to his performance would be ideal. If there is a fandub in the future, it would be helpful if the voice actor could keep the same tone of majesty but twist it into sort of a crazy manner. This is because Astral does have a dark counterpart, who is a little more expressive and free in his speech than Astral. If the voice actor can't do this, then that is not a problem at all! I just thought it would be cool to have two characters, who are the same person but just differentiated as good and evil, be voiced by the same person!
Astral has just appeared in the human world. He knows nothing about his surroundings except for the fact that he's in a duel, and the person, whose team he's on, is losing. This prompts him to demand Yuma to keep fighting.
"Rise up. Rise up...and win."
Upon scanning his surroundings, Astral comes upon a conclusion after he analyzes Number 17: Leviathan Dragon.
"Numbers. Something is telling me that the key to my memories resides within that monster. If that's the case, then I need to win this duel no matter what.
Yuma turns and questions Astral's ability to duel, which prompts Astral to answer confidently.
"Of course. After all, I'm a Duelist."
(Director's Note: "Xyz" is pronounced "Exceez". Like the word "Exceed" but replace the letter "D" with "Z" instead.)
After letting Yuma take over the driver's seat for the duel, Astral realizes that his life is at stake and proceeds to strictly instruct Yuma on what to do, in order to prevent himself from disappearing.
"Use 'Monster Reborn' to revive Gagaga Magician from the grave. I cannot allow myself to disappear from existence. Please believe in me!"
Yuma summons out Gagaga Magician from the graveyard.
"With this, our strategy will work. Now Overlay your Level Four Gagaga Magician and Ganbara Knight."
Astral proceeds to confirm Yuma's assumptions about the upcoming combo.
"Take a look at your Extra Deck. It's the Xyz Monster, Number 39: Utopia!"
Yuma asks Astral "This is a Number Monster?!"
"Correct. This is the power I entrust to you. Use it wisely,"
Hey, buddy! Sorry for the late reply. I took a quick listen to your auditions late last night, but wanted to give you some critique when I wasn't in a state of fatigue. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the passion and projection that you had in your auditions. Unfortunately, I think your voice is a bit too deep for these characters. Although, I really admire you going ahead and showing off a more darker tone to your Astral voice, in preparation for his dark counterpart, Number 96: Dark Mist. That was really awesome for you to do. I think out of all the characters for this project though, I think your voice could possibly fit Tetsuo Takeda. If you'd like, I wouldn't mind listening to an audition from you for him, despite it being past the project casting deadline.
Hey, it's cool don't worry about it my man. I been there a lot lol. When you are tired you can't think straight and I've done some dumb stuff when sleepy, so I respect your decision lol. Anyways, I appreciate your feedback and glad you enjoyed my Astral audition with the "psycho touch" haha. I understand your concerns about my voice I usually got told my voice is too high for a male so I decided to go for it for Yuma but I guess now I'm too deep LMAO what can I do? Am I right? But as to take a shot at Takeda... Hmm I probably won't I don't feel his character and I doubt I have the ability to do it. I don't want to promise you a voice that can't act so I'mma have to keep it 700% real with you and say I'm not confident with his character. That's why I didn't try out for him I couldn't feel his character. But hey if you ever need an extra or like a one time character with like a line or two I can probably do that. I usually get the extras in all my auditions. So you know I've had experience LMAO alright enough of me playing around. Thank you and good day. -Ragna
Don't worry about it, buddy! That's actually surprising about the whole pitches to your voices. If you're not feeling his character, then I completely understand. I'll definitely keep you in mind for any sort of extras or other characters for projects in the future! Thanks again, man, and break a leg on future auditions! You've got some talent!
Sounds good. Catch you on the flip side, my dude.
