Xenogears: Visually Impaired Playthrough Casting Roles
Project Overview
- What is this?
Basically we want to create a "Let's Play" of the 1998 JRPG Classic Xenogears that is designed for a visually impaired audience. The characters dialogue would be dubbed and a narrator introduced to describe scenes, characters and JRPG information. We are going to need both voice actors and writers to make this project happen!
Requirements:
THIS IS A NON PAYING GIG. This is a passion project which I've always wanted to do. While there are a lot of videos breaking down Xenogears and explaining the story, every one of those videos inserts opinions into the story...good or bad. People with visual impairments deserve to listen to the game in its entirety and form their own opinion. That being said, I don't have a lot of money to contribute, but will of course credit each person contributing.Since the idea of this project is to give each main character a distinct voice, it is imperative that whoever volunteers for this project, completes their lines. Otherwise it could create confusion later on for the listener if we need to change up a voice actor in the middle of the playthrough.
A decently clear mic would be helpful. Experience is not necessary. An understanding of JRPG and Xenogears is helpful but not required.
Time Required:I cannot stress this enough. Xenogears is a long, wordy game. Play time through the main storyline is roughly 65 hours. To provide context, Final Fantasy 7 playtime was 37 hours. Main roles like Fei, Citan, Elly, Bart, Grahf, Ramus and Miang contain a lot of dialogue. Keep that in mind when inquiring about a role.
A few final notes:1.) This funny cult classic means a lot to me. A project of this magnitude is going to be a giant undertaking; if you are interested in helping to organize this project and be part of decision making, feel free to contact me.
2.) If you are interested in writing: keep in mind that some of our listeners have never experienced sight before. Because of this, it's important to think outside the box and sometimes describe things in an abstract way.
3.) Discord is not required, but it is recommended as we utilize it to organize group rehearsals, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts (it's also been an incredibly useful tool for getting to know the people affiliated with the project and we've had a fair bit of fun with it).That should cover it all. She is like a Mother Teresa type character. Holy figure who is worshipped by the Nissan Sect. Stubborn, honest, proper yet speaks her mind.

She's a programmed entity that has existed for the last 10k years. She's not a robot, she is kinda like a spirit that can inherit any women in the Xenogears world. Whatever she does, however she acts, she does to achieve her ultimate goal. Shes not evil really. She doesn't get any joy nor does some horrible acts out of a want. She's just programmed that way.

The desert is a precious treasure passed down to us from our ancestors. Here we can forge our minds and bodies into one. Our teachers are the sun and wind. We are gathered here today, with our strong bodies forged by the desert.
The sun above us is the same as that which burns over our fathers at the front. The wind blowing here is the same that which whisks our resolves and prayers to our sons at the front. This Tournament raises our spirits and renews our blessings from this desert we live in.
Brave ones, warriors, fight well and do not shame our brothers at the front. Let the 338th Tournament begin!
