WONDERLAND: The Overture
Project Overview
Wonderland is an animated series in development; an absurdist reimagining of Alice in Wonderland that begins not in a meadow or tea party, but a local retailer near you.
In this story, every fantasy land of myth exists as its own country— Candylands, Dreamlands, LalaLands, even the mythical (and possibly nonexistent) “New York.” Each have their own people, cultures, and histories. Among them lies the isolationist Wonderland: an island-nation at once ridiculed and revered, a place where logic falters and meaning doesn’t exist. Its only consistent entry point is in the wandering city of Elelín, on a train known only as The Rabbithole. It has no schedule, no ticketing, and no sense. Boarding it means surrendering to the extraordinary, and maybe (probably) never coming back.
At the heart of the story are Alice and her eccentric family, the Alices, who, while simply trying to cross Elelín for a family reunion, accidentally board the Rabbithole. A simple and awful mistake; they were late, and resigned to following a familiar stranger- Untitled, the strangely named Secretary of State to Wonderland’s President, the Queen of Hearts (who also goes by the grandiose name of Doctor Junior Senior). Their mistake? Boarding the wrong train. Though a distant relative, yes, Untitled boarded a train for his own very important date, too important to talk about, or explain, and the panicked Alices followed. Thus, instead of crossing Elelín, they’re whisked straight into Wonderland itself.
Trapped in Wonderland, the Alice family must navigate a land equal parts bewildering and profound. As they encounter Wonderland’s inhabitants and customs, they uncover truths that may not only reshape their perception of “nonsense” but reshape the course of history.
Wonderland is at once surreal adventure, political satire, and emotional exploration- a show where the strange becomes familiar, and the familiar is made strange again. Now in 3D!
Tone and Style?
Wonderland is where sharp-witted absurdist comedy meets colorful visuals. It’s chaotic, stupid, satirical: and at its heart, about pure fun, imagination, and being brought together by the dumbest humor. The show balances irreverence and meta-commentary, pushing characters through madness while grounding them in very real emotional stakes.
But why Wonderland?
Because fever dreams matter, and when a one-way ticket to madness pulls into the station, you’d be crazy not to board!
