Project Overview

"We Can cry Together" is a student film about a Filipino immigrant mother trying to soothe her child to avoid any negative attention in fear of getting deported.

I’m currently looking for 2 voice actors:

  • Mother: Adult female, Filipino, Bisaya/Tagalog

  • Child: Child/toddler female, Filipino, only speaks in English

Each role will have a flat fee of $20 per hour, payments can be made through PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo. You will be paid immediately after the session is done. Your name will of course be added to the credits of the film. Please also be open to re-recording or doing some additional lines after the initial session, you will be compensated for that time as well.

Recording sessions are TBD


Line recording will be done live either through video call or in person, whichever works best for you. If you will be recording remotely, please have a quality recording booth and microphone available. If you are able to come in person, we will be using a recording booth at the School of Visual Arts.

The film is expected to be finished by April 2027.

A little about who you’ll be working with:

I’m Katt, a senior at the School of Visual Arts studying 2D Animation! This will be my final film at this school. I’m excited to be working with voice actors and will be doing my best to direct you!

An anxious mother trying to keep her composure and comfort her child. She is the lead role in this film.

Requirements for auditioning:
- MUST BE FILIPINO/DIASPORA
This film is about an immigrant mother from the Philippines and is based off my own real experiences. I want this film to highlight my culture and give other Filipino's opportunities.
- Can speak Bisaya/Tagalog
There are some lines in the film that are in Bisaya, and I would prefer someone who can speak in that dialect, but Tagalog would be fine too. Also, preferably someone who is fluent, but if you can speak it correctly give it a shot anyways!
- Good audio setup
I don't have specific specs of what you should use, but as long as it's clear and without background noise it'll do! We will be recording remotely so please let me know if you prefer discord, zoom, or any other virtual meeting app. If you are based in NYC, there is an option to come in person and use my school's recording studio if you would prefer.

A three-year-old child who misses her dad and doesn't understand what's going on.

This role has ALOT of crying in it, majority of your lines will be crying and wailing like a toddler. I want this to be a very grounded and realistic film, so authenticity is the key.

Something quiet and subtle, more greatly emphasized during the intense parts. But can transition into a soft lullaby tune at the end of the film.

It would be great if the composer is Filipino/Diaspora but not required to apply.
