WAITING FOR THE DEATH WIND (Short Indie Visual Novel)
Project Overview
About This Project
4/23 Update: Femme role just added at a flat 100 USD for around 16 lines! Masc role payment updated to a flat 175 USD for around 37 lines.
This casting call is for WAITING FOR THE DEATH WIND, a very short visual novel that will be submitted to this game jam, featuring dialogue between two characters: a dying Athenian warrior and his goddess. For the warrior, I'm paying a flat 175 USD for around 30 dialogue lines and a short, 7-line poem excerpt. For the goddess, I'm paying a flat 100 USD for around 16 dialogue lines. The project image on CCC is a WIP.
This project has a tight turnaround, so please make sure to take a look at the timeline before submitting an audition.
You can view the games I’ve created at https://www.romanhyacinths.com/games. I previously worked with a VA on another short visual novel, which you can play here.
Timeline and ContractAudition deadline: 4/24/25 at 8 p.m. EST
I’ll select a VA by: 4/25/25 at 8 p.m. EST (a full script will be made available before the VA signs to check their interest in the full project)
VA submits first full audio take by: 4/27/25 at 8 p.m. EST
VA submits final re-takes on individual lines by: 4/29/2025 at 8 p.m. EST
I’ll pay the VA: Within 5 business days of final re-takes
If you’re curious, I’ve made the legal contract for Leander's role public. The goddess VA's contract will be similar, but customized to that role. It’s pretty standard — covers the flat payment and additional payment for re-takes, required deadlines, and general VA protections (e.g., no AI training on voice lines).
Any outreach regarding this project will come through CCC or from Discord (from the user “Jaylus”). Please don’t use my contact info to message me with unsolicited requests.

[mournfully] “It should have never happened like this. I would have been content living with my wife, and my children, and their children, until my bones dissolved into the sand. ”
[angrily] “Oh, so now you are here? You couldn't have been here when the Spartans were crossing the mountains? When they were pillaging my mother's village? When they stormed the gate, my family fleeing into the woods? When they drove a spear through my king's skull?”
[fatigued, with emotion] “I have been such a fool. The only thing I wish for is to be near you, after all this time.”

[calmly] I’ve been holding your right hand this entire time.
[firmly, regally, rebuking, but without anger] "Where were you when your ancestors came to the island you have spent your entire life on? Did you see their boat, tattered at the edges and half-filled with saltwater? Did you see their faces, hallowed with hunger but filled with hope, when they saw fig trees clustered in the grove — trees I planted for them?"
[gently, with empathy] "What do you wish for now, my child? I will see it done."
