Project Overview
At the heart of the tale is the idea that all characters are striving for something beyond their reach — whether it’s power, redemption, or simply survival.
Marjorie, once an orphan, now runs the orphanage with an ambition to improve the children’s lives, but her vision has become corrupted. As the headmistress, she became entangled in political intrigue, doing what was necessary to further her own ambitions. In the process, she sacrifices the orphans’ safety and uses them as pawns in her high-stakes game. Her latest deal with the half-demon Jin Yong, puts everything she has built in jeopardy.
The players are drawn into a dangerous mission to recover missing orphans who have ventured into a sealed tomb. It is feared that they’ve awakened ancient evil, unleashing horrors from a long-forgotten demilich.
A young rogue from the orphanage named Pin, begins to see the cracks in Marjorie’s idealistic image. He helps the player understand Marjorie’s darker side: her manipulations, how she uses others for personal gain, and how she’s become consumed by her own ambition. Pin’s disillusionment with her and his growing resentment make him both an ally and a warning.
As the story unfolds, the players will encounter moral dilemmas, discover secrets about Marjorie’s past, and ultimately face the truth about the cost of ambition, survival, and sacrifice. The themes of lost innocence, unattainable desires, betrayal, and personal sacrifice create a tragic journey for all involved.
