Project Overview
The deadline won’t be rushed whatsoever, but it would be lovely for all interested to audition before the first of November.
TW: the following includes heavy mentions of Parasites and other parasite-related gross stuff. Voice actors; please use a nicer quality microphone to audition. It’d just make it easier to hear. Thank you!
Vessel will be an animated series me and my mom are working on about an endoparasitic disease “That caught the world by storm.” Causing those who caught this disease to develop sharp teeth, weird bug-like claws, and an appetite for human flesh. Since this apocalyptic outbreak emerged, people who were able resorted to their communities’ new convenient shelters to keep them and their families safe for a longer period of time. Since then, people living in those shelters created their own form of government, and decided to take matters into their own hands and “exterminate” the infected vessels outside their shelter every day until life in the past was restored. Though some disagreed with their officials’ forceful regulations, there was no outbreak that lasted long due to their shelter’s abundance of firearms and soldiers they had at their whim. After fourteen years, more people began adding onto the population of the infected, and others losing their hope. The officials out of a desperate attempt for power developed a new and dangerous drug to help prevent them from feeling hopeless and to keep them willing to throw their lives away for the sake of freedom and distract themselves from their possible rebelliousness. It didn’t work though >:)

(This role will not be long term) Valerie will be shown briefly in the Pilot, but will be more properly introduced in episode 2. She’s in her early 20’s (24) and her tone of voice is slightly lower but still shows hospitality and kindness. She may come off as sweet, but her unusually saccharine demeanor holds a sinister secret. She had seemingly lived in solitude for a long while, so she already seems a bit off her rocker lol. I hope this audition is fun for you!! :D

(Soft) “Oh! (Chuckle) I’m sorry, it’s been a little while since I’ve seen..living people... (Cheery) Anyway, I’m Valerie! Nice to meet you!”
(Compassion) “That sounds rough.. I’m sorry you had to experience that day after day. I won’t lie though, there’s definitely a ditch at each end of the road. No privacy or complete solitude. (Chuckle) I’m gonna end up missing you. Ya’ll just might be my favorite group I’ve come across.”
(Complete desperation) “You really think hauling around an infect’s gonna inspire sympathy? (Laugh) He’s only making it harder for you to get outta this mess! Besides, how long do you think it’ll take for him to completely lose his humanity? He’ll tear ya’ll to pieces!”
(This role will be long term) Mylo is very kind, but impatient at times, I would like to reflect on his empathy in his tone if that makes sense. The pitch you choose to use doesn’t matter to me, I’m looking for mostly good performance for his character, just please don’t forget he’s still a teenager. (16 yrs old) He typically finds a way to break the awkward silence or lighten the mood. He is a particular asset to the higher-ups when it comes to the battlefield. He has a wide range of tactical abilities from being trained by his father who’s a highly respected veteran whom he has some unresolved issues with. He often gets burnt out, but is determined to not seem like it to make sure those who may need him aren’t afraid to encounter him. Overall he just wants to make life a little less hopless (PLEASE make two takes for each section of the lines given. Have fun!!

(Annoyed) Dottie, what is your problem?! I don’t know what caused you to think that all of this is some sort of joke, but you actually need to take a second and remember that those are living breathing people! You mope around and act like there’s something wrong and when I try to ask about it, you get all defensive! Why cant you just be honest with me?!”
(Compassion) “I understand you don’t like it here, neither do I, but without any knowledge of what’s out there, how are we supposed defend ourselves? We’re doing what we can.”
“I’m not going out there until you tell me what’s going on! Do you even know what you’re doing? (Sigh) I appreciate what you’re doing for me but this isn’t worth it.”
(This role will be long-term) Juno is the most spunky of her group. Her voice is more neutral/maybe a little higher in pitch (she’s 16 years old) and her tone usually seems to be more assertive than others. She’s a pessimistic realist when it comes to her worldviews. She hates, and I mean absolutely HATES the official’s governing choices. She’s highly interested in self-expression and creativity, and she’s seen as more of a burden to the extermination corps due to her “difficult” manner by questioning every order they give to measure it’s justification. She’s seen as rebellious by most of her peers, causing her to be publicly ridiculed. Although she doesn’t let anyone get to her head and stop her from speaking up when she believes that something her higher-ups say or do is wrong or sketchy, she struggles with doubt on if she can ever make a difference. (PLEASE record two takes for each set of lines, also, have fun!! :D)

(Dismissive) “Who cares? What are they gonna do, kick me out of this pseudo-sanctuary? (Scoff) That’d be doing me a favor.”
(Sound panicked. Let your voice break and stuff, raise your voice like you’re on the verge of tears. Try to make it sound as natural as you possibly can, you can even play around and add extra dialogue if you want. In fact, I advise you to if it does you any good. Have fun!!) “It was an accident, I tried to ease the pain with that- that stuff and now he cant even keep his eyes open! they described it as a “painkiller” I was trying to help!
(Angry) “Can you shut the hell up?! You’ve made it pretty clear you’re not here to help. Y’know I literally can’t fathom why you stay! If you’re so confident in yourself, take your stuff and leave, because at this point you’re nothing but a burden!
(This role will be long term) Though the name she responds to is Dottie, it doesn’t seem to be her birth name, though nobody was intrusive enough to ask whether or not it actually was. Dottie lost her mother during the beginning of the apocalyptic pandemic. Her mother was attacked by an infected vessel. Her father on the other hand got them both to safety, though short while after he did, ended up succumbing to clinical depression, which led him to take his own life, leaving Dottie with no caretaker at a young age (4 years old) Though Dottie is the oldest of the group, her emotional maturity is detrimentally low, leading her to release stress or anxiety by taking it out mostly on her peers. Making her “weird” and unlikable to most. her pitch is kinda lower but she’s still teen/young adult. (She’s 18) Her tone of voice changes frequently so be ready to initiate tons of emotions through voice, and PLEASE take two takes per set of lines given. (By the way, thank you so much for auditioning or even taking your time to read this. It means a lot!)

(Rage, start a little quiet and fluctuate your volume in a way that sounds best to you, I do want you to yell a bit for this one though. Just go with how it sounds in your mind. You got this! :D) “I get that you want to be the saint here, just don’t. Your half-baked assumptions are a waste of my time, and I don’t need some desperate loser like you to console me. You and I are going to do our jobs, and nothing else, so stop prying.”
(Repulsed) “(scoff) Gross- Do you guys realize how much trouble you’re gonna put yourselves in, or are you just stupid?”
(Mocking) “(Giggle) How much more of a liability can you be? Seeking attention isn’t gonna get you anywhere, and neither is your compulsive urge to lie. How about you do us one good and show us how much of that “evidence” you can handle! Then we wouldn’t have to hear the speculations you’re always yapping about.”

Rade is a close friend of Mylo’s. He’s seen as just an average guy, no more no less. Emotional repression is how this guy functions. He experiences existential dread and overall hopelessness which led him to shut off a lot of his humanity and try not to care about much. His pitch of voice is on the neutral, maybe slightly lower. (He’s 17 yrs old) His typical tone of voice is calm. Kinda like a guy who says “dude” all the time. Basically be ready to sound like a stereotypical Californian stoner lol. I hope this audition is fun for you!

(Chuckle sound kinda absent minded) “Dude.. if we’re gonna leave this place they’re gonna totally kill us if we ever come back- not just ‘cuz we broke our oaths but also ‘cuz you stole their two most important assets and their ammunition. Wait, they wouldn’t just kill us, they’d probably torture you before our eyes and then kill all of us to teach everyone a lesson or something.”
(Anxious, exasperated) “Mylo’s not dead?! You shot him in the shoulder! He’s loosing a TON of blood but you know he’s okay because what?! He’s an infected vessel now?! Thats probably even worse than dying!!”
(Reassuring) “It’s better to just leave her be, man. Look at the bright side, at least you didn’t teach her to aim. (Chuckle)
I’ve been putting a lot of thought into what type of animation works best for me, and I’ve decided on 3d animation. I don’t know much about animation, especially the complexities of 3d animation, so this is going to be a HUGE learning process for me. Please send in a link for your past projects.
