Show and Audition Notes:
I would like to preface this audition document with the information that this is a volunteer, non-paid episode submission for Aster Podcasting Network’s Summer Event for 2026. Thank you so much for considering participation with us!
Vanish Into Sky centers themes of existentialism, identity, and mental illness, specifically psychosis and depression. If you’re not comfortable voicing characters that discuss those topics, this may not be a great fit.
Like other APN productions, casting priority is given to those who have the same identity as the characters, as we want to represent those identities with respect. Please display that respect toward our work, our actors, our editors, directors, etc., especially given we are a network that works with many people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and disabled people. We expect all members of a production to be treated well, and we will not tolerate disrespect of identity of any kind.
No previous experience is necessary, though if desired, alongside your audition, a voice acting reel may be submitted. Record with the setup you intend to use if casted.

Please be at least 18 years old to audition! In your audition, you should include your name, age, and relevant information about your identity (nationality, gender identity, etc.) in the introduction if you so choose.

Voice Actor
A 34 y/o (she/her) American woman living on the Oregon coast. Calm, outwardly chill, sarcastic, often negative and self-deprecating (but not rude).
She struggles with a lack of confidence in herself and her work, but tries her best to be social and open to others, even if she can be somewhat stubborn in her way of thinking. When she is truly surprised, more emotion peeks through in her voice.
NOTES: Rosemary has schizophrenia and depression, and discusses her experiences at length. Please be aware of this and respectful when speaking about that topic.
I strongly encourage ALL actors who feel she is a good fit to audition, but especially trans/LGBTQ+ actors!

“God, I am so negative. I hate that. … Man. Even when I’m chastising my own negativity, I’m negative. Really, it’s ridiculous. Like, can’t you just be happy you’re thirty-four? Can’t you be excited about your birthday? It’s, like, the happiest day of the year, or something… “
“That’s awesome. Man, you’re answering a lot of the questions I have, and at the same time, you’re not making a dent. Why do you come around every so often? Do you live in the sky? If you exist, that must mean there’s… like… God, right? Oh, man. That’s kind of a lot to wrap my head around. I don’t pray that often. Am I gonna be in trouble with the big guy upstairs?”
[TEARING UP, FRUSTRATED] “Great. Just great. And now you’re going to be gone within the day? You say all this nice stuff, you have all this sureness about yourself, and you can’t even… God. I really need someone like you to talk to!”
Voice Actor
An angel (he/him) that visits Rosemary to comfort her and discuss some serious life business. A surprisingly casual and informal guy for being thousands of years old. Calm, sure of himself, and understanding. He’s a ball of playful, gentle sunshine. Very positive, even when things are tough.
He is wistful about his past human life on Earth, but tries not to let his emotions get in the way of his talk with Rosemary.
NOTES: The Angel, like Rosemary, discusses existentialist ideas.
I strongly encourage all actors who feel he is a good fit to audition, but especially trans/LGBTQ+ actors!

“Call me selfish, but I like being remembered in a way that someone wouldn’t just throw away. I only get around to Earth every so often, and it’s nice knowing someone’s thinking of me down here. Where I live, I’m one of many. Down here, I get to feel a little special for a day… see how my epitaphs are holding up.”
“Speak to me, and I will hear. Any time. Any day. That’s my job. [A PAUSE] Aw, geez. I’ve said too much…!”
