Uta No Princess-Sama! A Genderbent Project

Uta No Princess-Sama! A Genderbent Project

Project Overview

This is an idea I've had for a while after watching the show Uta No Prince-Sama. I had wanted to create a collection of songs from the series, but genderbent. It would also be nice to have fresh art to go with the song....Putting a face to the name, so to speak.  I'm not paying anyone, but I would really like if people were willing to do this. I've been going back and forth between making a few fan comics or just leaving it as a group of songs. This does mean you'll be singing in Japanese and attempting to sound like the original male counterparts.

I don't require anything other than an audition, and the ability to follow along with some of the more fast-paced songs.

Haruhi Nanami
open
Unpaid

Haruhi Nanami is the genderbent male form of Haruka Nanami, the main lead in Uta No Prince-sama. He is a songwriter and music composer who attends Saotome Academy.  He is frail, innocent, and hopelessly bashful, but as the series goes on, his true strength and perserverance is shown. Haruhi's speaking voice is much like his singing one: soft, breathy, and high. Not much vibrato, like a young choir singer.

  • (determined) "Songs move people's hearts and make them passionate."

  • (inspired) "I thought of a phrase of music. I need to write it down before it escapes..."

  • Sing a few lines in " Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" (yes, the nursery rhyme) and around thirty seconds of any Uta Pri song.

Artists

The biggest part of this project. I need artists who are willing to draw small, funny comics that can be dubbed over. I'm also accepting those who just want to give me ideas on things in general.

  • Tell me who you are, and why you're interested. I'll be taking virtually anyone who's willing.

Ichinose Tokiwa

Role assigned to: MsMeisterVA

Ichinose Tokiwa, the female variant of Ichinose Tokiya, is a character of many layers. At Saotome Academy, she is known as the aloof and cold younger sister of HAYASA, an exceedingly famous and bubbly female singer. However, it is later revealed that Tokiwa herself is in fact HAYASA, and that she is putting on the "kawaii" unwillingly. She soon opens up her feelings to Haruhi and the band, STARISH.

  • Sing the first verse of " Amazing Grace" and a little bit from " Nanairo no Compass"

  • (cold, an air of superiority)" I am Ichinose Tokiwa. Don't compare me to that frivolous and paltry girl."

  • (masculine, like a woman trying too hard to appear male) "Even so, why does it have to be you?! *tearing up* Why do you have to put yourself in danger?"

Jinguji Rin

Jinguji Rin, the one woman everyone wants their hands on. She's the one to entertain others, flirting and calling potential love interests(Haruhi) things like " my lord" and "little lamb".  Heir to a rich conglomerate, she butts heads with rival Hijirikawa Masako often, yet always has an unaffected smirk on her face, acting as though she couldn't care less about anything but her promiscuous ways, despite her not being that way. Her singing voice must be rich and soulful, as she plays the saxophone and sings a lot of the lower notes in the band.

  • Sing a few lines from "Maji Love 1000%" and "Orange Rhapsody".

  • " I think it's about time for me to disappear. I'm bored... Of this place." (wistful, air of seriousness, while still kind of light)

  • " My lord, can you hear me?" (romantic, seductive)

Shinomiya Natsuki/Satsuki

Easily one of my favourite characters in the show, Shinomiya Natsuki. On the surface, she's a sweet, dorky, awkward bundle of joy who's obsessed with cooking--despite her absolute inability to do so-- and cute things, including her best friend Kurusu Syoko. However, remove her glasses, and it's like she transforms into a nasty, violent, cruel girl known as Satsuki, who'd rather fight her way out of problems. In other words, she has MPD, or DID, and her alter of Satsuki influences some of her performances, such as "Orion De Shoutout". The original voice actor for her male counterpart is filled with rich vibrato, good at belting out loud notes, which is a stark contrast to her otherwise soft voice.

  • Sing a little bit from " Orion De Shoutout" and " Piyo-Chan".

  • (as Satsuki) "Why do you sing insincere songs?! You're in the spotlight, but your true feelings hide in pitch dark shadows. It pisses me off."

  • (as Natsuki, determined) "HOMEMADE COOKIES ARE THE SAFEST!"

Ittoki Otoe

The ball of energy known as Ittoki Otoe, a happy-go-lucky girl filled with dreams and a slight obsession with food. Otoe is a member in STARISH who seems starkly different from what her past suggests. As an orphan, she didn't really have an obvious parental figure, but the daycare/orphanage where she was raised served as a true family. Ittoki is always seen with a big smile on her face and her unique voice and style makes her a character to remember.

  • (whiny) " Nee, Tokiwa! Tell me, tell meee~!"

  • Sing a little bit from "Brand New Melody"

  • "I'm so pumped up!"(energetic)

Hijirikawa Masako

Hijirikawa Masako is a stoic, traditional girl in every sense of the word. She writes kanji with an ink brush, she dresses impeccably, speaks formally, and even meditates under a waterfall. However, she is far from a robot, as she can be quite the perfectionist and has been reduced to a blushing mess simply through physical contact with Haruhi. Her voice is higher than some characters, however she can't reach the height of Tokiwa's as effortlessly.

  • Sing a little bit of " Knocking On the Mind"

  • " Whenever my thoughts are in a maze, there's a place I always go. A waterfall."

  • (reading from a script as monotonously as physically possible) " Let me fly over the rainbow. Yeah. Go, now, go."

Kurusu Syoko

Role assigned to: ShiOtome Ka

Kurusu Syoko is the shota of the group, the cute one, so to speak. She may look the part, but this girl is obsessed with strength, power, and masculinity, perhaps because of her stature. She idolizes actor, singer, and teacher Hyuga Ryuko, and actually acted alongside her in a tv series. Syoko has a very bursting and powerful voice, yet her youthfulness and overall smallness can be heard in her songs.

  • Sing a little from "Otokogi Zenkai Go Fight!"

  • Shout as loudly and as grittily as possible: I LOVE YOU!

  • " Don't call me short!"

Aijima Cecile

Unpaid

Oddly enough, Aijima Cecile is a character I've had difficulty understanding throughout the series. Introduced in Season Two, long after STARISH had gained fame, she entered the scene as a magical princess who had been cursed as a black cat for all of season one, and only appeared in Haruhi's dreams. When her character was introduced, she was a foreigner from a made-up Middle Eastern realm known as Agnapolis. Cecile appears very laid back, always smiling, yet her fear of water seemed to stay with her even as a human. Her voice is uncommonly nasal, albeit it is one of the best voices to blend with others in the band.

  • Try your best meows. Your character did use to be a cat, after all.

  • Sing a little bit of " Reincarnation of Love"

  • " I am not interested in becoming an idol. I simply want to be with Haruhi." (lazy, resolute)

Shining Saotome

Shining Saotome, the flamboyant and slightly creepy owner and principal of Saotome Academy. Always wearing the same ugly tie and powersuit, paired with some signature sunglasses, she is an unmistakable character well into her forties. Her voice is boisterous, dramatic, and annoying, and she is known for popping up out of nowhere to terrify Haruhi and the girls, watching them on her many monitors at times when most people would'nt be spying, and even following Haruhi back to his grandmother's house just to get him to come back to enroll in the school again after he quit.

  • "BINGO, BINGO, BIIIIIIINGO!!!!"

  • *extremely irritating "evil laugh"*

  • " True love between idols is strictly forbidden!"

Riko Tsukimiya

Tsukimiya Riko is a female crossdresser who pretends to be a male and emulates male speech patterns. She's very happy and bright, and a very likeable character. Most viewers mistake her for a man on first glance, and it elicits a rather...Frustrated response out of her. She is a teacher for many students in Saotome Academy, including Haruhi and a majority of STARISH.

  • " I am the very masculine Tsukimiya Riko. I'm in charge of this class." (cheerful)

  • (seething, using natural female voice) " I can't believe you've never heard Of Tsukimiya Riko. The best way to make it on TV is to have an impact. Everyone knows that."

  • " Call me Riko- sensei! Nice. To. Meet. You!!" (emphasis on each word punctuated with a full stop, filled with cheeriness)

Hyuga Ryuko

Hyuga, the power woman of the Saotome Academy. As a teacher and popular actress, she is strict, serious, and ,dare I say, salty. Her smile is an exceedingly rare sight, as is her generosity or kindness. The few scenes in which the stoic character speaks at length are in the episode where she acts in a movie alongside Kurusu Syoko, who was struggling with her fear of heights.

  • " You look exactly like what I imagined for the role of my little sister! Come audition, Syoko-chan."(happy, an uncommon emotion expressed by her)

  • " How naive. You're a professional, quit acting like an amateur." (condescendingly)

  • " Actually, as two people competing for the same work, you could call us enemies." (serious, almost spiteful)

Mikaze Ai

Mikaze Ai, the closeted android in the professional group, Quartet Night. She has a blank, emotionless stare and a monotone voice. I'm honestly surprised it took them a season to realize she was a robot. Note: Ai speaks monotonously, but she does not sound like a robot, so no robot voice effects.

  • Sing a bit from " Futari no Monogram".

  • "If either of you are late, you will be responsible."

  • (to Syoko)" You really are short, aren't you? My data says you're 148 centimeters, but you appear at most about 146."

Camille

Camille is a cruel, particular, audacious and icy character. When in public with the press and her fans, she is sweet, charming, ladylike. However, behind closed doors, she's rude, belittling, and full of herself. However, she isn't all bad in any way, and Haruhi loves her for that. Her voice is deep, rich, and very classical in a sense, and she never fails to provide barbs at her bandmates.

  • "You should do something about yourself before meddling in the business of others."

  • Sing a little bit of "Pure White Love Aspiration"

Kotobuki Reika is the smiley and charming part of Quartet Night. She loves giving people cute nicknames and dropping smooth lines to fans. She mentors Otoe and Tokiwa, but acts more as a friend than a teacher.

  • Sing a bit from "Never".

Kurosaki Ranmaru, the angst and grit of Quartet Night. She's brooding, mysterious, sarcastic, and really lets loose when singing. She's a wizard at the electric bass and used to sing in a rock band with her friends. Ranmaru is always picking on Reika, who's never bothered by it, as the two are close friends.

  • " You won't make it far in this world if you rely on others."

  • Sing a little bit of " Wild Soul" and/or "Poison Kiss"

Just extras. As my drama teacher said, there are no small roles, only small characters. While anyone can be replaced, no space can be left empty.

  • Say something that a concert goer would shout.

  • Say  something insulting about Haruhi Nanami.

A very minor character is Shibuya Tomoda, the best friend of Haruhi Nanami. He is Haruhi's roommate, but his presence isn't made central to anything. He's almost always talking about food when he is present in a scene, normally a hamburger of some kind.

  • "Hey, we're friends, aren't we? Call me Tomo-kun."

  • "They're princesses of song, so to speak."
