Project Overview
We are various voice actors and actresses of the Homestuck fandom and we seek to bring you top-quality voice acting to all things Homestuck!!
- [PLEASE READ] -
As we want this group to be as high-quality as possible, we ask for a few things when it comes to auditioning.
1. Little to no background noise/white noise. Please.
2. Please be able to give multiple takes of a line. Give at least three with a different inflection in each.
3. No headset, laptop, phone, or webcam mics allowed. We can certainly understand if you plan to upgrade to a better mic soon once cast. But any and all auditions submitted that were recorded with any of the following mics listed above will be ignored and deleted right away. No exceptions!
4. Please emote. We can’t stress how hard it is to be able to emote. We’re not looking for emotionless robots. We’re looking for those who can pull us away from reality and make us believe that they are indeed those characters.
5. Using the same voice for multiple characters will result in you having your audition ignored and/or deleted. This isn’t an anime dubbing group. We’re looking for various cartoony voices and the like.
6. Please be respectful to those around you if you get cast or not.

The voice I hear for Vriska is one that is incredibly snooty but not over-the-top unbearable.
Please keep her "jerkish" behavior in check. Try not to make her sound too snooty.

No8ody from my party liked me a whole lot. I think I talked too much, and I had a ha8it of 8ringing conversations 8ack around to myself. Not that it matters anymore, 8ut it was not the 8est way to make friends.
I see Rose as being the incredibly cryptic one. The sort of friend who seems interestingly mysterious.
In terms of voice, I see/hear her having a sort of low mysterious voice. I'd think of trying something similar to Raven or Backfire from Teen Titans.
It must be hard to keep a low profile when you’re always overhearing awed voices whisper, “It’s that guy who has a blog.”
This is already intriguing enough to compensate for the grave scarcity of lavish gifts parachuting from the sky. Please go on.

The voice I hear for Porrim is one that is borderline motherly, but also very bold.
Like Kanaya, I also envision Porrim having some sort of accent. I heavily imagine her having either a German or Austrian accent to parallel Kanaya's British accent.
However, the accent is not a requirement.

To me, Dave isn't all that monotone. While, yes, in the beginning of Homestuck he is heavily portrayed as being "too laid back to care" I still sorta see him having some sort of energy in his voice. I hear more energy coming from Dave than I do for Rose.
In terms of the voice, I ask that you try to find a happy medium between laid-back and energetic casual.

The voice I hear for Meulin is one that is very energized and excitable. However, please keep in mind that a majority of her loudness comes from her being deaf.

The voice I hear for Aranea is an interesting one. I sorta hear either a Velma voice for her, or a Pearl voice.

The voice I hear for Kurloz is one that is very sinister, dark, and creepy. But please remember to keep ALL of that at a moderate level. Nothing too over the edge.

Same as the "Homestuck/Kid's Narrator", you will ned to have an engaging type of voice. However, the difference between the two is that I sorta see the Hivebent narrator with a more darker, but still captivating, sort of voice.
Elsewhere in paradox space, we examine another planet, forgotten by time. But we will strive to remember. What was this planet’s name?

It just so happens that today, the 12th bilunar perigee of the 6th dark season’s equinox, is the day of this young troll’s larval awakening, also known as his wriggling day. Though it was six solar sweeps ago he was given life, it is only today he will be given a name! Six Alternian solar sweeps, for convenient reference, is equivalent to thirteen Earth years. Earth, also for convenient reference, is a planet that does not yet exist. What will the name of this young troll be?

All I can really say for Jade in terms of voice is that you find some sort of medium that isn't too unbearably squeaky.
While I do imagine Jade having a rather high-pitched and energetic voice, I heavily want to stay away from having her sound too high-pitched.
A good reference to draw from would be any young female anime character that didn't sound mind-bendingly annoying to you.

Karkat "Candy Corn Nubs" Vantas.
The voice I imagine for Karkat is mixture between gruff and gravelly, but also with more human-esque quality to it.
While I mainly look for cartoony voices in the other characters, I've always imagined Karkat having a more human-sounding voice rather than a cartoonish one.
Do with that what you will.

The kind of voice I hear for Damara is one that is mid-to-low range and always has this tinge of contempt in it.
I ask that if you audition for Damara...you give me one take in English and one take in Japanese.

The voice I picture for Jane isn't directly stuck to one head-canon per say. I know half of the fandom sees her having a southern kind of accent. But the accent is not really required for our group's Jane.
However, if you do choose to go with an accent...
I'd love to hear something akin to that of Tara Strong's performance as Lena from Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island. Not as the overall voice. But only for the accent.

The voice I hear for Feferi is one that is incredibly uplifting and bubbly. I imagine a princess-esque type voice. While, yes, she is considered a very bubbly character, I still see Feferi as having a rather serious tone to her voice as well. Something to even out her personality. I overall see her voice as being sort of sing-songy.

Not much to say about his voice. Other than I sorta hear him sounding much more laid-back than Dave. But only by a tiny bit.
The overall vibe I get for Dirk is that his voice is similar to that of male anime protagonist. You know, something low and deep.
If it puts your mind at ease, I’ll be the one pulling the strings here.

If you're auditioning for Nepeta, please bring all the energy to the table. She's a fangirl to some extent, and I'd like that to be apparent in her voice.

The best kind of accent that comes to mind to accurately portray this is a British accent.

Anyways, the voice I picture for Terezi is one that has a slight rasp to it, but doesn't overpower the voice. I also see her having a sort of Peridot voice.

The voice I hear for Equius is one that is calm, dark, and calculating. Nothing too eerie.

The voice I hear for Gamzee is a very gruff and abrasive sort of voice.
Mix that in with a typical stoner-esque voice and you got a pretty good audition.

The voice I hear for Rufioh is open to interpretation. I've only heard two versions of his voice online. Dante Basco's and mine. Any interpretation of Rufioh is welcome, as long as it fits his character.

The voice I hear for this jerk-bag of the sea is mish-mash of both John Travolta and Christopher Walken.
Though, to make his quirk bearable and easier, I heavily encourage giving him a Russian accent. (I'd research the accent if you're curious as to why I said that) Anyways, a 50's styled Russian greaser.

Aradia is a character I imagine having a sort of rasp to her voice. Nothing too overpowering though.
I want this to be known upfront.

If you intend to audition for Aradia, all I ask is that you put some form of emotion into her voice.
I know that she's supposed to be deader than a doornail early on in the story, and then later transitions into a stone-cold robot.
But I heavily advise that you put some form of emoting into each of her forms. Otherwise, you're audition will not make the cut.

In terms of voice, I'd recommend listening to Inky's Broadway Roxy to get a feel for what kind of voice I imagine for Roxy.

The voice I hear for Latula is one similar to that of Princess Daisy.
One that is almost tom-boyish in nature. 90's skater voice + Princess Daisy = Latula.
