Hayan usually tries to maintain a cheerful, upbeat personality. She tries to be a good role model to her adoptive siblings. She is also very self-conscious of being a Pureblood, aware of how hated Vampires are. She tries to avoid using her powers as much as possible. After Father Michael's death, Hayan becomes haunted by grief and the desire for vengeance. She no longer fears her own powers, but will use them to "make things right" She directs that grief into hunting and destroying the vampire empire. She becomes much more serious and focused in achieving her goal. However, she is very empathetic to innocents and weaker vampires that the Angels of Death have exploited. She avoids putting citizens in danger as much as she can. Hayan, however, also became more ill-tempered, particularly around Angels of Death, and maintains an understandable level of mistrust and animosity towards them.

He has a kind nature, a sense of justice, and is willing to risk his life to catch vampires. However he is unpredictable and hard to read at times, such as the instances where he saved Hayan from being revealed as a vampire. He does possess quirky mannerisms, such as his infamous morning routine, jealousy towards other men Hayan encounters, and underlying pettiness. The captain is confident in his ability to fight, very perceptive of his surroundings, and has a strong sense of duty. He tends to be very chatty in even the most serious situations and can let his cockiness get the best of him. Whenever Hayan asks how he was able to complete a difficult task, Euntae would boast that his skills are first rate, but does not go into much detail. When confronting his sister, he lets his guard down and appears remorseful. He is overprotective of his loved ones, showcased by the lengths he went to save Haeun from being turned and his nonstop care for Hayan when she was unconscious.

When Father Michael was younger, he was optimistic. However, since his discharge from a presumably traumatic service in the military, he has not smiled since and is more cold and aloof. He is disciplined and dutiful and wishes to instill those values in his adoptive family, particularly Hayan. He is very protective of his adoptive family and is willing to put his life on the line in their defense. Father Michael genuinely loves his children, but he has difficulty showing his emotions. In fact, he did not outwardly display any form of affection towards Hayan, instead writing about how he regretted not doing so in undelivered letters.

Even prior to becoming an Angel of Death, Lucian had an extreme degree of arrogance and fragile pride. As a child, he would openly assault anyone who he saw as looking down on him. His perceptions of himself were reinforced as superiors (such as teachers) blamed the victim rather than him. This arrogance fueled his transformation into a powerful vampire. As a vampire, Lucian lived a lavish life. He had little patience for mistakes and would assault those who erred. Due to his strength, this would accidentally end in the underling's death.
