Frisk is the playable character of Undertale and is very merciful and kind. They have a power called determination which allows them to reset and come back to life after dying. Frisk should sound excited and child like.

Chara is the first human that fell down the Undergound. Many people see her as a evil person, but she still has a character to her that is way more than just evil: pain, emotions and other things.

Flowey is the first major character that the protagonist encounters in Undertale. Initially, Flowey operates under a facade of friendliness and politeness. He often greets the protagonist with southern slang, such as "Howdy!", calls himself "your best friend," and, like his father, appends polite words such as "gosh" and "golly" to the ends of his sentences. Whenever he drops this guise of friendliness, he often calls the protagonist an "idiot." He is manipulative, devious, a cunning planner and subtle if the circumstances require it.

Toriel is a kind monster that acts as a protective mother figure for the protagonist. She enjoys cooking and bakes butterscotch-cinnamon pie as well as her favorite, snail pie. Toriel has a playful side, as shown by her love of puns and bad jokes, and she even keeps a journal of puns.

Napstablook known in the UnderNet as NAPSTABLOOK22, is a melancholic ghost monster and musician/DJ who lives in Waterfall, first seen and encountered in the Ruins as the game's first miniboss.

Sans is a pretty lazy Skeleton. He is a sentry in Snowdin Forest. He really cares about other people, especially his brother Papyrus.

Papyrus is the brother of Sans. His main motive is to capture a human so he can become a member of the Royal Guard, and finally have friends and popularity. Papyrus is a flamboyant skeleton who presents a confident, charismatic image of himself. He works hard and, despite his brash personality, is kind at heart. He is optimistic, brave, and considerate. He is also occasionally oblivious and nonobservant but can be cunning at times, as seen when he uses reverse psychology to trick Undyne into befriending the protagonist.
YOU KNOW WHAT "SUP," BROTHER! IT'S BEEN EIGHT DAYS AND YOU STILL HAVEN'T... RECALIBRATED. YOUR. PUZZLES.

Undyne is a fish-like monster that leads the Royal Guard. Clad in her full suit of armor, she pursues the protagonist through the entirety of Waterfall and is frequently evaded or inadvertently thwarted by Monster Kid. Undyne is passionate about everything that she does. She acts quickly on her ideas and is steadfast in her beliefs. Though she wants to defeat the protagonist, she also tries to be fair and offers an explanation of how Green Mode works. Asgore taught her the value of pacifism, which is why Undyne sees the protagonist as "a wimpy loser with a big heart." When the protagonist first encounters her, she fights to further Asgore's plan of collecting seven human SOULs but, if the protagonist shows mercy, Undyne just as quickly defends them from Asgore.
Seven. Seven human souls, and King ASGORE will become a god. Six. That's how many we have collected thus far. Understand? Through your seventh and final soul, this world will be transformed.
First, however, as is customary for those who make it this far... I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people. It all started, long ago... No, you know what? SCREW IT! WHY SHOULD I TELL THAT STORY, WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO DIE!?! NGAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Monster Kid is a Monster-Kid, as the name says. He is a big fan of Undyne.

Dr. Alphys is a female, reptilian monster that lives in the lab in western Hotland. She is the incumbent Royal Scientist, a position she was awarded by Asgore after the disappearance of her predecessor. Alphys is a nerdy, shy recluse with a fondness for human anime and manga. She has crushes on multiple characters but struggles to communicate her feelings. Alphys is filled with guilt and insecurities about herself and her accomplishments. After she accidentally created the Amalgamates while experimenting with determination, she told nobody and became deeply depressed and remorseful.
Oh. My god. I didn't expect you to show up so soon! I haven't showered, I'm barely dressed, it's all messy, and...
Ummm... H-h-hiya! I'm Dr. Alphys. I'm ASGORE's royal scientist! B-b-but, ahhhh, I'm not one of the "bad guys"!
Uhh! H-hi, so, the blue lasers... Uhh! I mean, Alphys here! Hi! The blue lasers won't hurt you if you don't move! O-orange ones, um... Y-you have to be moving, and they... Um, they won't, um... Move through those ones! Uhh, bye!
Mettaton is a robot with a SOUL and was built by Alphys. Initially poised as an entertainment robot turned human killing robot, Mettaton is later revealed to have only acted as such so that Alphys could rescue the protagonist, feel important and become closer to them. Mettaton is the sole television star of the Underground. Mettaton is a confident, charismatic, and charming TV host that loves drama, action, and violence. He lives for his ratings and adores performing. He supposedly strikes a pose when he does something wrong and makes time on his various shows to beat up "heel-turning villains." He shows a rather shallow appreciation for existence at times. He has a strong craving for attention and is very egotistical for the point of narcissism, such as boasting about the beauty of his true form. However, despite his seemingly narcissistic personality, he deeply cares about the seemingly positive impact his show has had on the inhabitants of the Underground. He has also shown soft spots for several characters, such as Alphys and Napstablook. He also appears to be among the fewer characters in the Underground that has no hate or prejudice against humans despite knowing about the monsters' history with them, since his initial attempts to kill the protagonist were just him playing along with Alphys's plan, and he outright tells the protagonist he has no desire to hurt humans and is far more interested in simply entertaining. While he did attempt to kill the protagonist, it was to prevent Asgore from taking their SOUL and be seen as a hero/savior to humankind, further emphasizing his lack of prejudice. On the flip side, he has also been noted to be a very demanding boss who is very unpleasant to work for, especially according to Burgerpants, who initially considered working for him a dream, but has since grown to strongly despise him.

Muffet is a miniboss the protagonist encounters in Hotland. She runs a bake sale, being very angry at passers-by who do not purchase anything from it despite selling overpriced items for 9999 gold.
Did you hear what they just said? They said a human wearing a striped shirt will come through. I heard that they hate spiders. I heard that they love to stomp on them. I heard that they like to tear their legs off. I heard... that they're awfully stingy with their money.

Asgore is the king of monsters. He promised to kill every human that falls down the underground, because of the humans who killed his son "Asriel". But the truth is, he doesn't want that. He just wants his people to have hope.
