W. D. Gaster was the royal scientist before Alphys, and responsible for creating the CORE. His life was cut short when he fell into "his creation". His existence is only hinted by characters such as the River Person and Gaster's Followers.
"Entry Number Seventeen: Dark, darker, yet darker. The darkness keeps growing. The shadows cutting deeper. Photon readings: negative."

Napstablook is a very dour individual, with low self-esteem and an introverted attitude. Despite this, Napstablook is shown to be courteous to others, treating the protagonist as a guest when visited at home.
"Oh, you really came. Sorry, I.. I wasn't expecting that. It's not much, but make yourself at home."
"Do you... want to join me? Okay... follow my lead."

Toriel is a kind and motherly monstery who genuinely cares for the protagonist and their well-being. She also has a playful side; she loves puns and bad jokes. She also enjoys cooking.
"Do not be afraid, my child. I am Toriel."
"Splendid! I am proud of you!"

Muffet appears to be the leader of the spiders in the Underground. She also runs her own bake sale in Hotland. She is quick to anger when people don't donate to her cause.
"Oh my, this has all been a big misunderstanding! I thought you were someone that hated spiders!"
"Sorry for all the trouble. I'll make it up to you! You can come back here any time... And, for no charge at all!"

Alphys is a nerdy and shy recluse that has a fondess for anime and manga. Alphys lacks self-confidence with what she does. She often stutters and has a hidden side of herself that is filled with guilt and insecurities about herself and her accomplishments
"Ummm.. H-h-hiya! I'm Alphys. B-b-but, ahhh, I'm not used to sort of thing!"
"Oh. My god. I didn't expect you to show up so soon! I haven't showered, I'm barely dressed, it's all messy.."

Flowey operates under a facade of friendliness and politeness. Flowey has a malevolent and cruel disposition, regularly berating a pacifist protagonist for ignoring his kill-or-be-killed advice and talking about his desire to destroy the world. He is a cunning planner and subtle if the circumstances require it. He also possesses a disturbing sense of humor.
"Howdy! I'm Flowey! Flowey the flower!"
"Really? Well, do what you will. I'll be waiting for you."

While initially cast in a sympathetic light, Asriel admits at the end of the True Pacifist Route that Chara was not the greatest person. Chara behaves in a cold, deliberate, and even malevolent fashion through both actions and speech, despite any outward semblance of youth and innocence.

Frisk is shown to be a peaceful character. Throughout the game, monsters refer to Frisk using "they" and "them" pronouns, when not using common nouns such as "human" and "child".
Though blank-faced in the overworld, the game often describes Frisk making other expressions. For example, Frisk is described as giving "a patient smile" when "cheering" up Napstablook.
"My name is Frisk. We can be friends, if you'd like."
"No matter what happens, I'm determined to make it through this together."

Papyrus is a loud and flamboyant skeleton who presents a confident, charismatic image of himself. He tends to work hard, and despite his brash personality, he is a very kind skeleton at heart. He is extremely optimistic and innocent. He holds a great belief in the abilities of those around him.
"I know why you called me! I always make people feel better when they're down in the dumps"
"Oh no! You're meeting all my standards! I guess this means I have to go on a date with you?"

Asriel was known to be a docile, unadventurous and loving child who loved jokes.
"Be careful in the outside world, OK? Despite what everyone thinks, it’s not as nice as it is here."

Undyne has an intensely passionate personality. She often seems to act quickly upon an idea or thought, before she thinks about it or thinks of its consequences. She is also strong-willed and confident. She has a competitive spirit but is ultimately close with those that she considers friends.
"Hey, woah, wait a second! Your outfit is really cute! What's the occasion?
"He's just... well... I mean it's not that he's weak. He's actually pretty freaking tough! It's just that... he's... he's too innocent and nice!"

Mettaton is a confident, charismatic, and charming TV host that loves drama, action, and violence. He lives for his ratings and adores performing. He supposedly strikes a pose when he does something wrong. He shows a rather shallow appreciation for existence at times. However, despite his seemingly narcissistic personality, he deeply cares about the seemingly positive impact his show has had on the inhabitants of the Underground.
"Oh, yes! There you are, darling! It's time to have our date!"
"Oh! A mirror! That's right, I have to look perfect for our grand finale!"

Sans is the older brother of Papyrus and a major character in Undertale. Sans is shown to be very lazy and laid back, sleeping on the job and taking breaks often. He enjoys making bad, skeleton-related puns. He is kind and reassuring but becomes eerily serious at particular moments.
"Take care of yourself, kid, 'cause someone out there really cares about you."
"So long as you hold on... so long as you do what's in your heart... I believe you can do the right thing."

Burgerpants is a highly stressed-out service employee, who hates his job and his employer. He mentions that he originally wanted to be an actor when talking to him, which is likely the reason he makes a myriad of dramatic facial expressions. He can be sarcastic at times as shown when he is annoyed. He maintains a cynical view of the world and his future, specifically about his interactions with attractive people. Despite this, he is still shown to be rather hopeful at times. He can be ecstatic and entitled strongly to his opinions when talking about certain topics.
"Listen, I like you, little buddy. So I'm gonna save you a lot of trouble.Never interact with attractive people.Unless you're "one of them," they're just gonna take advantage of you."
"I can't go to hell, I'm all out of vacation days."
