Project Description
This is an emotional, character-driven animatic for an indie project. We are looking for two talented voice actors to portray a 10-year-old boy and his 8-year-old sister in a bittersweet flashback scene.
Audition & Production Workflow (Please Read Carefully)
Two-Part Audition:
Phase 1: Submit your individual lines here on the platform.
Phase 2: Shortlisted actors will be paired up for a live joint reading over Discord. Please include your timezone with your submission to help us coordinate these sessions.
Live Direction: Final recording will take place during a live directed session over Discord, where you will record your audio locally on your DAW and send the high-quality raw WAV files afterward.
Hardware Requirement: You must use closed-back headphones during the Discord call, as we must completely avoid audio bleed/feedback into your microphone while recording live with other actors.
Important Actor Note: Watch the animatic here (https://youtu.be/Ax6ClrOZ-YM) to understand the scene's timing. However, please do not read along with the video during your actual recording; turn it off and deliver your lines naturally from the script, focusing on a natural, unforced delivery.

Character 1: Balin (10 years old)
Gender: Male (or female voice actors who can convincingly voice a young boy)
Age: 10
Vocal Mechanics: Mid-tenor / Alto. You will navigate two distinct vocal "modes." A guarded, raspy street-brat defense mechanism ("street shell"), which melts into a soft, overly expressive, and deeply affectionate mid-tenor ("young caretaker") when he is alone with his sister. Your voice will drive the pacing.
Personality: Guarded, hyper-vigilant, and fiercely street-smart; deeply affectionate and tenderly maternal only to his sister.
Core Motivation: To keep his 8-year-old sister fed, safe, and sheltered from their mother's chaotic lifestyle.
The Undercurrent: Never project spite or delinquency. The audience must see a desperate, loving child forced to grow up too fast. He masks the danger by acting like everything is completely fine, using goofy distractions and playful fabrications to keep her laughing.

Line 1: (Teasing, warm, theatrical-sarcasm) "Now why would I.. [tickles her] ..Get you something?!"
Line 2: (Playfully fakes forgetting. Planting palm on head) "gasp…. (Chest but tense with mock guilt) Oh shoot. I totally forgot!"
Line 3: (Warm, clear, velvety chest alto) "laugh Of course I wouldn’t forget… [Holds out 2 fists. Daring, playful] Pick one."
Character 2: Anna (8 years old)
Gender: Female (or voice actors who can convincingly voice a young girl)
Age: 8
Vocal Mechanics: Entirely transparent, raw, and emotionally honest, reflecting her lack of psychological armor. Your delivery serves as the emotional barometer for the scene.
Personality: Sweet, imaginative, and deeply trusting, though visibly fragile and easily frightened by the chaotic world around her.
Core Motivation: To stay close to Balin and find moments of joy and magic amid the bleakness of her surroundings.
The Undercurrent: Pure, untainted innocence. She must never come across as annoying or ungrateful. Though she lets Balin distract her, there is a subtle undercurrent of awareness—she plays along with his games partly because she knows it makes him feel better.
