Project Overview

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This is a 2D-animated Thesis Film that explores the concept of authenticity and its decline within an ever-growing society of connectivity. The film will be a continuous journey through different sequences with little to no cuts and tons of FX animation >:)

Run-time is currently about 4 minutes and 24 seconds long.


CURRENT STAGE:
The animatic and Main Narration have been compiled together and animation on this project has begun. I am currently in the process of selecting a Composer / Sound Designer.

  • Update 4: Main Narrator Casted, Composer & Sound Designer Priorities, & More

    Here are a few updates regarding my animated thesis film for yall to catch up on!

    After an exciting audition process, the Main Narrator for my film has officially been casted!

    [Composer + Sound Designer Update]
    My priority is now to hire a Composer for the music. HOWEVER, I have decided that I am really interested in Composers who are also experienced in Sound Design because music and sfx will be really intertwined. This is not a requirement, but I am looking forward to working with someone who has both qualifications. The pay will of course be increased respectively!

    [Deadline Change]
    It has come to my attention that it will be difficult to compose and time the music to just the animatic of my film. Because of this I have decided to extend the deadline for all open roles to December! That way more animation is completed with finalized timing. Currently, January is the expected month of beginning music and sound production.

    I finally finished voice testing in Premiere for the 96 auditions that made it to Round 1. It was an extremely time-consuming process, but I was really determined to find the best fit for the Main Narrator Role!

    I do apologize for not being able to give feedback for all the auditions that I had to dismiss because there were a lot of you. You are all crazy talented voice artists and at many times, I felt so bad for dismissing auditions. Unfortunately, there can only be 1 Main Narrator, but I have noted down some of you for future projects! If I commented on your submission regarding making it to Round 2, you are one of the 15 semi-finalists! Congratz!!

I haven't sent out any results as of 1:39pm EST, but around 20 of you will receive a comment about making it to Round 2! I may also comment last-minute questions about your submission or experience.

    The auditions for the Main Narrator have officially closed! I have also finished listening through all 324 auditions and have finalized Round 1 of the selection process. If you received a submission comment along the lines of "Great audition!" you have made it to the first round! Congratz! ッ

    For the 96 of you who have made it, it is officially time for voice effect testing in Adobe Premiere Pro. Now is also a good time to update your profiles with your website, reels, and portfolios as I will be looking through your work more in depth. No further auditions needed for this round, unless I encounter any issues with your audio file. A max of 20 people can make it to this round and time is precious, so please be communicative!

IMPORTANT:
Due to the film's nature, music and sound design will be heavily intertwined with each other throughout. Because of this, I am really interested in COMPOSERS who are also SOUND DESIGNERS (the pay will be increased accordingly if you meet both qualifications). Note: This is not a requirement, but is highly preferred!

Things to Keep In Mind:

- My film is fully continuous with A LOT of transitions, so I will need someone capable of mixing a good range of music with nice transitions together.
- As mentioned, Sound Design is just as important; there is SFX needed for various objects and voices. 

- There will be narration--though not all the time--on top of the music.

- I will provide my in-progress animation accompanied by a cue sheet.
- Communication is preferred via Discord!

Major Moods:
- ETHEREAL: Beginning sequences will take place in a limbo or void.
- FAST-PACED ACTION: Objects will be coming into the camera fast.
- EERIE: Mysterious environments.
- FUTURISTIC UPLIFTING TO DYSTOPIAN: Getting philosophical and deep.

(These are the main moods, but I will provide a detailed cue sheet with specifics)

- CastingCallClub requires an audio file upload, but I will be mainly looking at websites/portfolios as I am looking for someone experienced and skilled in this field.

As of right now, I am leaning more toward a deep, masculine voice for the Main Narrator VO role. However, I may need voices that contrast with the main narrator's voice so I can layer them underneath certain parts of the narration.

Note: The number of lines for this role is going to be significantly less than the Main Narrator. It is estimated to be about 3-5 lines, but if it ends up being more, I'll update the pay accordingly!


When auditioning, try different tones that would sound distinct from a deep, masculine voice. Something that would sound harmonious and interesting!
