There Is No Plague In Ock Town - Short Audio Drama

Project Overview

There Is No Plague In Ock Town is a short dark fantasy audio drama about a knight who finds himself in the wrong place and wrong time.

About the project: It's important to note that this project is mostly just to give me some practice audio editing. I still plan on uploading it to youtube and other websites.

What to expect:

  • There will be a deadline for submitting me your lines. This deadline will be a loose one since this project is unpaid.

  • Auditions close October 30th at 11:30 CST. Actors who are cast will be notified by November 5th (likely sooner than that.)

  • I will send actors a google drive link to submit their lines to.

  • I am more than happy to do a recording session with actors if time zones and schedules allow it.

  • There will be absolutely zero AI used in this project. I am strongly against it.

  • This is my first time doing this, and I'm quite nervous! Please bare with me as I figure out a system that works for me. Thank you!

Microphones: USB or XLR mics. Please no phones.

Auditions: Please give me 2-3 different takes for each line. Please link a demo reel if you have one.

A note about accents: This takes place in a fantasy world, so I don't need accents to be accurate to the location. Sir Tellor needs to have a different accent from the rest of the cast. Narrator, The Healer, and The Lord should all have the same accent. Please do additional takes with any accents that you can.

  • I'm sorry, sir. I can tend to your wounds and nothing more. You'll have to speak to the lord about your reward.

  • My apologies, sir. We must rely on unconventional ingredients out here. Just one of the many knots of living so far from any cities or trade routes.

  • We didn’t ask for your help. We had a plan.

  • "There is no plague in Ock Town." That's what they'll tell you. They'll tell you, "There is nothing wrong with Ock Town." They'll repeat it so much you'll know that it's a lie. But don't you worry your head, dear. I'll tell you the truth about Ock Town.

  • He took his time as he walked over to the seat. He observed the strange decor the healer had. Bones, hides, preserved animals in jars. Strange things for a healer to have. Though he knew that Ock Town was a strange place.

  • Sir Tellor rose from his seat and reached for his sword. But nausea took over just as he touched the hilt. Then came the ringing in his hears.

  • It pains me to do this. I hope you know it's not personal. Wrong place, wrong time. That kind of thing. I wish we could use some of the bandits, truly, but he prefers alive prey.

  • Is he alive?

  • Good. I'll have the guards come prepare him.
