The Starborn Collective (Original Sci-Fi Audio Drama)
Project Overview
What is The Starborn Collective?
The Starborn Collective is a collection of three audio dramas - Two initial ones, titled Infested and Subliminals, and then Starborn, a sequel that voice actors from this wave will also be involved in. It will be produced by me, amidst a team of assistants who will be helping to produce it. It is a project that has been in development for several years but has now found its footing enough to begin the early stages of production. Infested has a complex plot containing heavy worldbuilding elements and many protagonists who will share spotlight to some degree but has two primary protagonists ultimately. You can find more about them below in their character profiles.
Requirements:
Everyone on this team is relatively new and inexperienced, so we try to hold ourselves to the same standard that we hold any auditioning voice actors. You do not need to have a professional setup, however having a microphone that can record in good quality and having access to Discord is key to being able to partake in this project. A link to the public Discord server we have created can be found later in this description.
Payment:
Unfortunately, this project is pay-free for the foreseeable future. This is a passion project at the moment that we hope to gain traction on in the future, but it is not currently in our budget to provide payment as we are all young and aspiring creators. Of course, this is subject to change in the distant future if all goes well but is a consideration for the distant future.
Role Significance:
Some voice actors will have to fulfil greater expectations than others depending on the importance of the character that they voice. For example, being in a leading role for this project means that you will likely be interacting with myself and the other producers frequently, so it is good not to have an aversion to social interaction and becoming acquainted with us as a staff team and a community.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Most characters in this show are LGBTQ+ and end up in relationships that are also LGBTQ+. If you aren’t comfortable with portraying that, it’s best not to audition! Thank you!
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Please submit all three lines as one file, for our convenience!
Production on this project is a bit slow right now, seeing as we've only got one writer (our creator, Eden!), but we're working to remedy that actively!
Here is the link to the discord server in which you can meet and talk to myself, other members of the production team, and community members if you just wish to be a part of the ride! https://discord.gg/wHwbbQCJJG

Side Character.
Dakota is the sci-fi equivalent of a tired nine-to-five office worker, a man just trying to get by in a job that he hates. He’s on your side, not the Federation’s. He’s very good at “Not paying attention” during very vital moments where crews would likely do something they’re not supposed to, and he’s not afraid to brave a stern talking-to from his higher ups if it means he gets to see a crew piss them off that much. Inspirations for Dakota: No Inspiration in particular – He’s essentially a reflection of any tired retail worker you would meet in your day-to-day life.

- male young adult

"My name’s Dakota, I’ll be your Federation assistant today … Let’s just … get this over with as quickly as possible, ‘kay?"
"Listen, uh – I don’t think the Federation would like that too much, but … Eh, who cares. Just pretend I was never here."
"You think I *wanted* to get roped into this? I hate this place. I hate these *people*. If I had any choice – If I *could* have, I would have left a long time ago."
