Project Overview
When the Police believes that Mathilda Redfield commited suicide by the river; her neice, Muriel Redfield, thinks that she was murdered! With the only theroy of her aunt's Dimond Bracelet being missing; Lamont Cranston and Margot Lane take's Muriel to her late Aunt's apartment at the Hotel Acheron (Pronounced Ackeron) where Mr. Ogden Hines (The Hotel Manager), Warner Reed (The Desk-Clerk) and Mrs. Haverson (A Hotel Resident) greets them. Later on the day, Commissoner Weston arrest Dan Burke, a soldier and Muriel Redfield's "Friend", on the suspicion of murder! Is Dan Burke the murderer? Can they find the Diamond Bracelet? The Shadow Knows!

It's just the way I said, Mr. Cranston. Mathilda lived alone at the Hotel Acheron. (NOTE: PRONOUNCED ACKERON) It's just outside the city, on the river.
Yes, it is that kind of place. Mostly women who... well, who live there the year around. They all have money, I guess. My Aunt had a great deal.
That's what makes me sure she... sure the police are wrong, Mr. Cranston.· She always wore that bracelet. It was worth nearly two hundred thousand dollars!
She had it made, about ten years ago. She took stones from ear-rings and necklaces... all sorts of gems. It was the most beautiful bracelet I've ever seen.
(ALMOST DARKLY) No ....I wasn't. I hadn't seen her in some time. I"ve been quite busy, you see. I have a friend in the Army, going overseas soon, and ....well, I just haven't seen Aunt Mathilda in several weeks.
Dan! Don't! He.... he was with me! Oh, I swear it. He was with me the whole day and night!
My aunt was murdered, Mr. Cranston. I'm sure of it now!

He said for Miss Redfield to stay right here. He was on his way out here. He sounded excited, Miss Redfield. He said he's be here right away!
(Coming in) Something the matter, Mr. Cranston?
Where is she Warner? She didn't go down to headquaters with her husband, I know.

This is terrible, terrible tragedy! Why would Mathilda want to take her own life? Why? I just can't get over it! Why the very same day she... she did it, we had our afternoon brigde, the same as always. How she loved to play cards! Why... oh, why she'd do a thing like this!
We wouldn't know what to do without Warner, would we, my boy?

I'm just all a jitter, Mrs. Haverson. Why, just now, before you came along, I was making my rounds here on the boat house pier, and I could have sworn I heard footsteps behind me!
