The Sanity Circus: Cinematic Dub (Chapter 1)
Project Overview
The Sanity Circus is a webcomic by Canadian artist and writer, Tasha Mukanik (or Windy). It began in Spring of 2014, and as of this post, has around twenty full chapters, with around ten more presumed before the series' finale.
The story focuses on Attley Grimshaw, a girl living in the strange city of Sanity. Full of magic, monsters, and mystery, Attley is suddenly thrown into a dangerous situation when her friend turns out to be not quite human. Now she’s seeking answers, and running into other bizarre people with their own problems– like a boy who can turn into a seagull, clowns with disembodied limbs, and instruments who become people. Just what is happening in Sanity?
The comic contains some violence, body horror and mild swearing.
It is my intention to transfer this wonderful and quaint little webcomic to the form of a video series, for people who are otherwise impartial to webcomics (or comics in general) to enjoy. I am not associated with the creator of the webcomic, nor do I own any part of the series or characters. This dub project is purely fan-organized, and will not be the subject of either monetary gain or pay.
There are plenty of characters that show up all throughout the comic's run, but for now I'll only be auditioning the roles of the first chapter. Most of these roles appear later in the comic, or recur. Attley is the main character, and will appear in just about every chapter of the story. Though I'm not auditioning every part of the story thus far at the present time, please be aware that, due to the nature of this comic's longevity and characters popping in and out of the story, you will have to dedicate to maintaining the role for the long term if you are cast and accept a role.
Please have decently good sound quality if auditioning (no microphone pops, hisses, excessive background noise, etc). Please also be timely and perhaps willing to work with voice direction.

Hi everyone, most roles for Chapter One have now successfully been cast. Those cast have been reached out to for further contact. There are a few characters I haven't felt comfortable casting yet and would like to see more auditions for before making a final decision on them, they remain open for audition until Sunday, October 20th.
Attley is the main protagonist of the story. She's naive, reckless, and stubborn, but she’s also loyal and determined. Empathizing with others isn’t a strong suit for her, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t try. She’s now trying to find answers about the city and, more importantly, about herself.
(Flippant, with a sense of smarmy attitude.)
Pff, who cares about directors? All they do is go up on a balcony and tell us stuff we already know.(Nervous, scared, trying to get out of a situation by convincing.)
I-I'm sure you don't, Mr. Demon!! And the guys who hit you are running down the street!
(Angry, indignant, shouting.)
She told me to come to this place if there was ever trouble! Now get your foot off of my face!!!
Posey is a major character. She was Attley’s friend, but it turns out she had other motives. Although she looks like a young girl, she’s really one of the handful of Scarecrow that have returned to haunt the city. Just what does she want with Attley, though?
(Curious, prodding for information.)
So it was some kids that angered the demon?(Tired, low and raspy, almost as if cynically resigned to her fate.)
Well, that didn't go exactly to plan. I wasn't expecting a demon to do that. She'll surely become suspicious of me once she begins asking around...looks like I'm going to have to speed things up.
(Taken by surprise, irritated.)
S-She's just leaving?! Unbelievable.
Attley's adoptive mother. She's somewhat strict, and easily upset, but deep down she cares very dearly about her family. Established to appear later, as well.
(Unconvinced, not fooled.)
Please enlighten me to a time when saying that actually worked.
(Softly, muttered to herself, tired, reluctant.)
I'm sorry, Attley...I don't know what else to do.
(Scolding, voice raised a bit.)
Attley!! What is with you today?! Victor had a bad game! And you know he hates bugs.
(Her train of thought is suddenly interrupted, her volume lowers but her demeanor remains.)
...What are you doing?
Attley's adoptive brother. A young, energetic boy who plays sports, but doesn't appear to have a very successful team. A bit sensitive.
(Disappointed, tired sounding.)
...Our team lost again.(Announcing to his mother where he's going.)
I'm gonna go get changed!(Skeptical, nervous.)
Um...you didn't put Mrs. F in my bed again, did you?
Attley's adoptive father. An upright, everyday dad. Well mannered and loves his wife. Very much a family-man.
(Happy, homely.)
We're home!
(Inquiring, not negative, but not overtly peppy either.)
How's our daughter?
(Concerned.)
Is she all right?
A minor demon that chases Attley near the beginning of the chapter. He's ferocious and intimidating, but is killed before he can do any damage.
(Drowsy, a bit irritable.)
Pardon...who...who was it...that hit me?
(Idle, still irritable.)
I don't appreciate being hit.
(Having a realization, becoming furious suddenly.)
B-But you, I want to kill you!!
Rios is the head of the Nameless Organization, an underground group that handles all things magic. She’s a little flighty and her curiosity usually gets the better of her. Her role in Chapter One is very minor, but she appears much more significantly later in the story.
(Worried, reporting.)
T-The Grimshaw safeguard has been activated!
(Desperate, commanding.)
Hurry! Get over there, pronto!
(A worried sigh, wracked with nervousness.)
A haughty street kid who tosses rocks at Attley. Hotheaded, unapologetic, easily amused. Shrimpy little brat.
(Calling, smarmy.)
Hey! Think fast!
(Matter of fact, cocky.)
Yeah, sure, why not! What are you gonna do, call the police?
(Insulted, irritated.)
Like I care what you think!!
The slightly more nervous partner in crime to his friend. Just kinda goes along with what's going on, doesn't seem to do much himself.
(Downtrodden, whiny.)
Mom said she'd ground me if she caught me doing any magic...
(Laughing along with his friend.)
Bahahaha!
(Worried, panicky.)
Uh...s-spi...der...!
